Its been done, but you would have to use the car a lot for it to pay back

I run a 6 port 13b in an FB on an Impco carb. Runs about 125bhp.

I get 16-20mpg on the gas and do use it on a daily basis (due to it being my daily). But at the minute the car is broken (front end needs repairing)

Been using it for the past 4yrs without too much hassle doing over 50k miles in the FB !

Where Sid you get it done, what was the rough cost involved?

I did all the work myself :D

The kit cost about 1k in parts but a good chunk of that was the carb and vapouriser.

I\'m not all that sure if my setup would match an egi engine, not sure if you want to use an ecu too.

I don\'t own one, but could it work on an RX-8?

It has been done on an RX8. There is a specific kit done by one of the lpg manufactures which is quite expensive. I did think about swapping to an 8 with the gas over the 1st gen.

Find a local lpg installer. The http://lpgforum.co.uk/ will get you reviews on local installers.

You could be looking at 2k in parts if you want to keep the EGI side of the setup because you will need a different ECU. I always looked at the LinkECU G4 as a candidate because it has 6D tuning with fuel pressure and temperature in the equation.

Look on ebay for vapourisers and injectors capable of supplying enough fuel for the system. Tinlel Tech will sell you parts to fit if you go for the DIY option. Although you will need to get the car passed by a tester and certified for use. Cost me about £100 to get that done. He spotted a couple of things I hadn\'t done and I had to fix them before he passed it.

Oh and by far the hardest part of the install is fitting the tank. I cut the whole boot out and installed a cradle to get a decent size tank (about 40lt usable). I get through a tank in just under a week with about 140miles done between fills of 30-35 liters.

hi,, am running a daily FC turbo with impco 225 and model E , posts are all over the net on various forums

works very well, smoother than some EFI installs , loses a bit of power under 2500 rpm to the petrol equiv,, but you wouldnt know in boost ,, except in the wallet

very cheap to operate,, cheaper per 100 km than a 99 2.0 CRV honda that i used to own

PS i also have built a ute with 13bt using my older custom manifolds, and it also goes very well, at not much cost
( the FC is using stock s4t manifolds )

the only minuses with LPG is a shorter range by about 1/3 ( only 40-45 L  usuable )
some small loss of power while at low revs and no boost
and can be tricky to start in some conditions, depending on your idle settings

in some cold climates they may alter the blend to improve winter starts
mine starts well cold,, is a bit trickier hot ,, its to do with my idle tune settings
and i get around that by having an external air bypass hose around the carb on a switch
ie,, the air bypass screw on the carb is shut,, i use the external loop line to tune the idle mix,, and when its hot,, i can shut the bypass on a cabin switch and thus richen up the mix to start
