I\'m off to Ireland to work for 6 weeks and looking for advise on storage if the FD
I\'ve heard the petrol can eat the water seals if left for prolonged periods of time
Is there a away to store properly or should I get my old man to start, warm up and shut down, once or twice?
How is petrol going to get to the water seals if the engine is turned off?
I would park the car up, remove the battery as it will go flat, lock the car up.
Probably best to leave it with hardly any fuel in it too as you will need to put some fresh fuel in when you come back.
Fair enough, that was what I was told...
I had my car sat not started for more than 6 weeks whilst I stripped the bodywork, fitted a kit, welding bits here and there and a full metal flake paint job. Fitted a new intercooler and radiator. Rolled it out of the garage with new oil, filter and petrol charged battery and it started straight away. New plugs too.
mate, ive left the rex on the drive for a year and it still started
please dont flame me, im trying to get it back in a divorce battle lol
Other than an alarm draining out the battery there\'s no need to worry about anything including the water seals as Grant has already said.
Mine has regularly sat for more than 6 weeks over many years, never a problem other than the battery issue until I bought a CTEK XS800 charger/conditioner a couple of years ago.
