Well, i have taken the plunge, i now am one of the fc crowd. Here it is in all its standard glory, soon to be molested into something not so standard.
Looks nice, cant wait to see it in the flesh.
Now a jpeg...
ooohhhh that looks a nice one :)
Just to keep all updated on progress. The car is at Tims at the moment having the big single turbo installed and all going well so far, very pleased to find out that they did a compression test and had figures in the high 7\'s, sweet (execpt it means i will have to wait for some porting till the engine blows...Doh!) I should have it back next week, so will update then!

Elaboration on \'big\' please? :)
Looks sweet btw.
OK, its a Blitz (KKK) K27, other than that i have no more details, but according to Matt, its probably the biggest he has fitted to an FC, so going by their opions really. Is that elaboration enough. Wish i could tell you more details on it really.
Well the day is drawing near, i have the car back with additions:
Microtech (thanks to Japspy)
4 x 1000cc HKS injectors
Uprated fuel pump
Single Turbo
Exhaust
Boost Controller
XPD Clutch
Etc etc
Thanks to Tim and all the boys for their help if they are reading this.
Rolling road is booked with Jeff from Reworx @ CPL Monday to sort out proper fuelling map and get some figures, so, fingers crossed, and will let all know the results.
Can you give me an idea of price breakdown? I have some of the mods already but have big plans so i want to know what sort of price i will be looking at.
Come on bonus **crosses fingers**
No worries
Injectors £500 - £600
Fuel Pump £100
Microtech £650
Boost Controller £250
Clucth £250 (not sure what its like, bit of a gamble)
Second hand turbo kit, so not really applicable £500 + usually
Labour, including making downpipe £800
Remainder of exhaust £350 Powerflow
Will let you know what figures i get with this.
oohhhhh sounds like you could be on for big BHP !
i would assume that you are looking at around 280 RWHP ?
It may be optimistic but i would be happy with 300 rwhp, i would have had the engine stripped and rebuilt with a bridge or street port but it gave excellent compression results, high 7\'s in fact!
Fingers crossed.
i take it that you have gone for a large intercooler and bigger rad ???
i didnt think the stock items could handle that sort of BHP
although im only gussing as thats what 88gtr has done :)
I will go with a bigger intercooler once funds are available, as for the rad, i am going to take advise. I have not driven it hard yet, as i still have the original clutch in untill thursday, but the water temp sticks at a steady 88, which seems pretty good.
Intercooler is a must though, just need to raise some more money. :D
Nick a bigger IC off of a scrapped car, I seem to remember that some of the old Toyota turbo\'s had large(ish) intercoolers and there\'s lots of those languishing in scrapyards up and down the country. All you need to do then is buy some piping and cut/shape it to fit. Unless you\'ve got your heart set on speanding lots of £££\'s?
brett , you seem clued up about this
what does a bigger intercooler actually do ??
and where would you mount a new one - infront of the rad ????
Not too happy with the results of todays dyno, although thanks must go to Geff and Guy and nice to meet 20B.
Figures were really dissapointing at about 195hp at the hubs, by all accounts my exhaust which i hade made is restricting the exit flow of exhaust gas and the intercooler, for want of a better word is PANTS!
So more money to find but have kinda lost heart now, does not look as though big hp\'s are going to be available without porting, and why tear down a good motor for the sake of a few more bhp.
Oh well, thanks to all for their help, patience and input.
Sorry to hear your results as I know how much effort went in to getting to a good spec. I would be interested to dyno mine and compare.
shame to hear that you are disheartened, I am surprised that the output is as low as that though, even on an unported engine with the big turbo, bigger injectors and decent ECU I\'d have expected more unless the exhaust is really restrictive. Maybe you should try Matt\'s idea (I was talking to him today) of using a charge cooler from an early Celica GT4.
The worst bits are the exhaust, intercooler and plumbing from turbo to i/c. All too small, the outlet from the turbo to the "intercooler" is nasty. Intakes were in the 90s
Figures were disappointing for sure, although when I got there it was making 136atw so there was improvement!! At the end of the day the car makes what the car can make with its current setup once mapped properly, whether it makes 200 or 600 at the wheel\'s :( If its not fast enough you have to step back, work out why and try some thing different. And repeat until it IS fast enough :D
hang on... so with the list of
Microtech (thanks to Japspy)
4 x 1000cc HKS injectors
Uprated fuel pump
Single Turbo
Exhaust
Boost Controller
XPD Clutch
Etc
you are only making 195 at the wheels ???
that doesnt sound right ??
i thought they put out 202 as standard at the fly - so even to loose 20% thru transmission and stuff thats still 160 at the wheels - and you only gained 40 bhp
sounds sound too right to me - unless im WAY of track ???
My point exactly!
And to be honest, adding intercooler and different exhaust, i cannot see it making that much more horsepower, maybe its the porting that makes all the difference.

hummmm very strange
looks like my full decat , fcd and boost controller is gonna do jack to the BHP figures :(

You say that but the stock IC is a bit crap really! What diameter pipe is the exhaust (main pipe not the tailpipe)?
Just whether to go FMIC, V-Mount (Found a place at the W/End who will do a V-Mount) or charge cooler!
Still not sure what you should be expecting if you got rid of the breathing and cooling issues on that setup, maybe about 250-260 atw?
When you think about it John\'s TII is only running a mild streetport and he is pushing 350bhp atw! But he does have an extremely effective V-Mount IC and a 3" straight through exhaust. What do Tim & Matt reckon on potential power increase with the right cooling etc?
Hmmm... I know mines N/A so the gas flow is gonna be different, but with my straight through system on it felt like a different car! I\'m pretty certain a full system can net you 25bhp over a catted system.
Am I dead wrong? I have made exhaust port mods too though, but with a bridge prt I\'d assume you\'d have the exhaust ports sorted as well?
Yep all ports are sorted on mine! Just need to sort out the rad, get the Microtech look into sorting an IC and a new turbo!
I have had a chat to both Tim and Geff this morning regarding problems, Geff reckons that 300hp is possible with the right mods to exhaust and intercooler.
The exhaust at present is 3" downpipe, but then goes down to split 2", i dont do maths, but apparently the area of 2, 2" is lower than one 3", so i really need to upgrade to 2.5" - 3" twins as i want to keep the orignal twin outlets (i am fussy like that).
The intercooler, agreed, is crap at best, i feel a decent front mount will do fine though, v-mount is way to expensive for me although if money were no object that would be my choice.
Thanks for all the support guys and this is just testiment for all to the guys just thinking of wacking on a single will net big hp, it wont, so learn your lesson from my experiences. It costs and its not that simple.
