Title: FC Instrument cluster - removal
Post by: johnf on February 10, 2012, 09:36:46 AM
I\'ve undone the four retaining screws and although it seems free it won\'t pull forwards enough to unplug the connectors - am I missing something.

I can\'t remember if I took this out last time I tried to fix the wiper switch but since then the mileage reading has gone from 64k to around 160k.

I will need to sort this out, is it just a case of turning the tumblers or is it more complicated.

Thanks

are you trying to take off the plastic surround ( that holds the switches ) or the actual clock bit ??

The clock bit

Removed the four retaining screws - it comed forward about 20mm and gets stuck

Normally it\'s 2 screws unerneath, and 3 along the underside at the top, but if it\'s moving as much as that, one of those screws was missing ;)

I normally undo the steering wheel cover (4 screws/bolts underneath) and remove that - it gives a bit more feedom to detach the connectors - but it is tight !

DOH  just re read your post again John - Clock unit is quite hard to get out - you need to work it free on the left hand side and undo that connector, then there should be enough room to squeeze a hand in and undo the other connector and the spring clip on the speedo cable.

From experience its always been tight though - does it feel like its coming up to a hard stop?
