Title: Coolant and boost problems
Post by: SAS_Racer on February 04, 2012, 06:29:21 PM
hi people,

first off has anyone got any tips on getting the coolant system bled through and how to fill it.. i was going to vacuum fill it but friend at work was using it so i filled it up through the expansion tank and thermostat housing.
my coolant buzzer stays on and is annoying as *%^".( cant get anymore coolant in the system)

boost proble is i cant feel the second turbo kick in and doesnt feel that powerful.. first time really driving one but i can tell its not hitting second turbo... is it something to do with the add coolant buzzer not allowing second to spool

thanks in advance

Hi there, the 2 problems are seperate, the first one you need to check where the water is going, if I am correct you should be filling up via the AST on an FD (someome confirm a I have an FC).

Second issue is a common issue with the FD, its probably the secondary turbo boost solinoid, search for \'rats nest\' on the forum and it will come up.

if you can visualy confimr the water is upto the top filler cap and the buzzer is still on then it is not water that is your prob. common fault is for the wire  to snap or to pull out of the connector that goes to the water sender this can be found by the oil dip stick. if its not that best do a search as there are a few electrical issues that can cause the buzzer to go off

how long would it take to come on with those faults.... mine comes on after like a minute of turning it on

hmm if it is off to start off with and then it comes on it doesnt sound like a wiring fault. does the water level visibly drop????

i take it you did the usual and filled it with the heater on hot then run it up until the thermostat opens and the rad starts to get hot then let it cool so you can take the caps off then fill the ast. check the plastic bottle behind drivers headlight and make sure that reads on high mark aswell then take off top cap and top that up then run it up again. i often find that it can take a couple of runs to get all the air out but if the ast is full and the plastic bottle is full it should draw that water in and not lower the level so the buzzer comes on.
