Title: photoshop help needed
Post by: Shark on July 03, 2004, 06:01:58 PM
Hi there,

Could someone help me with some photoshoping?  Trying to work out what exactly I want to do styling wise.
You out there Russ?

I\'m wondering how the DAMD front end would look with my racing beat sideskirts and a wide arch kit.  Figure this would be pretty unique if it all works together!

It would all be in Black but the aluminium centre wing wouldn\'t be painted.

Anyone up to this challenge? - A couple of pics so you can see what I\'m on about.

Hey G, how\'s things? :wave

Just wanted to say i think the DAMD front looks amazing...i\'ve never seen it on a \'real car\' (as opposed to the ubiquitous pic from taka kaira!) but it is fantastic. I remember you talking about this kit a while back, thought it was ok...but it\'s MUCH better than i thought! And you found it first!

Good luck, sure Russ will be along shortly. I\'d love to know how he does it, would be really useful and a lot of fun.

By the way...is that the actual 2F2F FD? Or just a replica? Just wondering as i really didn\'t like the one in the film, but with that kit (and not in a weird faded red!) it looks sublime!

Dpoing okay mate.  soring out moving my mortgage at the mo.  When that\'s done, pressure will be off to sell the old car for the price I need just now, and whatever I get for it will be rebuild fund and play money!!  then the fun can start!

I don\'t think it\'s the same car bud as the film, it wasn\'t a DAMD kit in the movie.

TBH I wasn\'t a fan of the car in 2F2F and thought it came across on screen a bit weak given the company it was in.  The decals work better on this but I\'m still unconvinced by them.  Problem is they\'re distracting me in the pics from what I think is the standout part of the kit - The front wing!

Whifbitz.com do a DAMD kit for the 350Z so I\'m figuring they could get this for me - I\'m sure someone else has contacts if not.

Have tried to photoshop and I am so useless it ain\'t even funny

Hopefully Russ or someone else will take pity on me and work something up so I can see if in black.

Attempt 1

I used the type 15th with side skirts.

I dont think It would look good with RB ones.

Came out better than I thought. I dont really like the lights.

Hi Russ,

Thanks for this, I\'m not sure about the kit in green, but I do like it in Blue.  Hoping it just doesn\'t handle light colours well.  Not sure about the green but that could just be the lack of sideskirts etc to balance the styling of the front end.  (or just the colour.)

this pic is a bit more side on, but let me know if you can do anything with it.  I have another on the PC which is closer to head on than your picture, so let me know if that would be better.

I take your point about the lights and it won;t be to everyone\'s taste, but I kinda like the fact it\'s different.  The RB skirts may not work, but I\'m curious about the kit in black.  Perhaps the grey skirts and rear undertray would work on a black car, perhaps not.  I just liek to ask the questions and get an idea but haven\'t the skill to do it myself unfortunately!!

Whoa. I just posted something about FD colours, pretty much concluding they all look nice...but i hadn\'t seen THAT one! :rollin What a paint job...who in their right mind would do such a thing?!

Anyway, still think it looks good. Green is bad. Very bad. But in a darker colour i think the DAMD kit would be great, especially in the flesh. I didn\'t know what to make of the lights at first, but i think they\'re cool now, after seeing so many of the \'same\' kits over the net.

I was only wandering about the 2F2F car because i heard that it was the exact same car as used in the first film, albeit with the VS goodies stripped off (and the RE-A lights etc!!!!) for some reason?! Think the car reflects the tuning scene in the US, wheres the first film was jap stylee. Thought maybe they\'d changed it AGAIN! I agree, the FD in the first film was THE car of the movie (sooper didn\'t come close), but looked out of it\'s league in 2F2F. Err why?! Whoever designed that should be shot - why not use a nice Re-Amemiya example? Or mazdaspeed? Or C-West...or just about anything!! :rollin

Can i be simple and ask what the RB skirts are? Not the standard ones from an RB? Hope not or i\'m endanger of being even more simple than most believe!!

Oh and by by the way...where are all these smilies coming from? You\'ll be giving Si a run for his money if this keeps up!! :D

RB Racing beat.

2f2f has a red fd with knight sports type4 front bar and Mazdaspeed widebody.

The green is not that bad.
It is the FAM Speed Demo car.
It has wird rear lights from Sankai and the DAMD front.
also has a vmount and single turbo.

Thanks Russ. I\'ve gotta say, your knowledge on all things FD-related borders on the very very scary (err no pun intended re. Border!)

Where do you find this info? You must have the worlds biggest FD pic collection, not to mention Derren Brown memory-skills! :D

But i have to disagree...the green one is just not good. Thought the rear lights sound interesting...any pics? (silly question no doubt! :p )

Ha ha ha:rollin

I don\'t think a day will come when I can challenge the smiley master!

Russ,
Thanks for the workup in red though, I really appreciate it.  I will have to think about this seriously as I like the kit.  I think that it would unbalance the car a lot on it\'s own though and agree the RB skirts on my car would probably need replaced.  Styles not in keeping really.  If you have anything of the DAMD in black that\'d be cool, but the red gives me a fair idea.  Gonna need to think more on the wide arches with the DAMD kit though.  not natural bedfellows (Si - try to resist the temptation for smut) but it kinda works.

So what are the choices Si? Didn\'t realise you had so many options...i know about the C-West one, but what other front ends have you got there waiting in the wings?

How is the fitting etc coming along? Are all 4 ok to be put on the car, remember the garage you were dealing with weren\'t too happy a little while ago!

YES! That looks excellent, nice work Ben! Think the blue works best. What do you think, G?

Bet it would look absolutely stunning in real life too. Is this the kit that has an aluminium section on the front bumper? Is it possible to colour-code that as per pics or would you prefer to leave it the regular colour?

By the way, did it take you guys a long time to be so proficient in/at photoshop? Would love to learn, can\'t wait to get the internet up and running at home and start playing about!

Cheers, although credit to rextreme for finding some pics that matched by flipping them!!

I work in design so I\'ve got to grips with photoshop although they bring out a new version every month it seems! This makes it tough finding where they hid that elusive tool!!

Would love the opportunity to just do car work all day!:cool

Yeah, Russ is really talented too. I\'m sure you could find something that lets you put your skills to use, surely the future of car design is all PC-based, maybe you could \'design\' a new Aston/BMW and send it to the relevent people?

Even if you specialised in something in particular...say wheels, front ends etc. Worth a go! ;)

Gotta say, I LOVE the wide arch kit on a black car, so that\'s a must on the shopping list!!!

The Damd bumper looks better than I expected in black.  I wasn;t too sure after that green monster but black looks great.  Thanks Ben!!!  You\'re right Adrian the DAMD kit has an aluminium front wing.  Not sure if it\'s adjustable though, but I think it is.  Standout part either way so I think I\'d leave that as is to highlight it.  Need to think a bit more about it though as I\'m not 100% on it yet but seeing it in black helps a hell of a lot.

Ben, you and Russ both have some talent there.  I wish I could do it myself, but am completely inept when it comes down to it.

It\'s really grown on me, G! Think you should take the plunge and be original! Would be awesome to have a kit that is unique. Looks better and better too.

I was wondering if you photoshop wizards could do me a favour and do me a lil image?

Early days yet, but i\'m wondering if i should get an FD without an expensive kit etc, then ask Ross to put some bits on. I\'m really after the INGS+1 front end, C-West skirts and INGS+1 rear bumper, preferably with a mazdaspeed type 2 rear wing. I know it\'s asking a lot, but any chance you one of you guys could knock something up if you get a chance? I\'ve only seen the kit on a white car (not my fave choice!) but i\'m really curious as to what it would look like on a silver or blue car.

I don\'t have any pics, as i only have internet access at work and we can\'t save images, but all the parts are on Ross\' site,

http://www.dragonperformance.co.uk/Products.aspx

But on second thoughts i bet you\'ve got plenty of pics!

I\'d really appreciate it! (And shhhh don\'t tell anyone as i want it to be unique!!) :D

Massive thanks if you can help chaps! :cool

Russ,
What kinda wheels are they?  Look tidy.  was looking at Rays Genome "Drilled Shark" (hey, it just caught my eye) but I don\'t think they\'re available over here and import cost would put me off.  See pic, they come in black too apparently.

Boarder wide body, and any other rear end widebody shots like the panspeed rear fender flares.

possibilities for the wheelsattached.
Am leaning towards the black/red, greyspokes with red rim, or grey spokes with silver rim.
gold spokes still in the running though.

Decisions, decisions...
