Do both the powersteering and non assisted racks have the same ratio?  ie are they both the same number of turns from lock to lock? :wave

If this is in regards too amount of lock the non pas rack has more lock as standard but the pas rack con be made too have loads more lock while the non pas rack is a bit of an unknown as too how much lock can be achieved

From what I have found out:

The non-assisted racks are 20:1
The power assisted ones are either 17:1 or 15:1

Thanks for the info. :)

I was thinking of ditching the PS and all its associated junk and putting in a proper manual rack. in a vague attempt to remove some more kg\'s a bit of clutter (bracket, pump, lines etc)

In that case why not get a pas rack and have the pas parts machined out of the centre allowing it too work correctly without assistance

Iirc mike gay or did this on his real old tramp bdc e30

I\'ve de-powered my rack...

You can do it in a shed at home, it just takes time, patience and not worrying about possibly busting the rack...

There\'s a guide online somewhere, although I found it AFTER I did mine, lol

Yes I have read the how ro for converting a PAS no non assist.  I just wanted to see if the ratio\'s where different (also good info that you can achieve more lock with the PAS rack compared to the non PAS one) :cheers
