New series starts tonight, should be a good one, Aventador, MP12C and Noble M600 :)
Damn Cyprus for not having uk tv.
I\'m looking forward to this but I think it\'s getting stale. The challenges are getting repetitive, their incessant jingoism and assured ignorance is getting a bit thin.

Agreed, i found the xmas special very dull and to a lesser degree, last years three wise men one, all previous ones very funny! I know the old feature lengths or specials always had staged events, but they seemed so much more real, like they were generally not trying to entertain, just 3 guys having a laugh and being idiots!
It would however be very difficult to change the direction too much as that just wouldnt be Top Gear and as we all know, they are the ones everyone tries to emulate! I would certainly like to loose star in a reasonable priced car as that is just very very old now!
I hope their challenges through the series are equally as entertaining, but not going "too far" in trying to be funny!
Yep, cannot wait :)
The Xmas special wasn\'t special at all. Very disappointed.
The series will be good in my eyes so long as there is expensive cars I will never have, loads of noise, tyre smoking and general arsing around like idiots and clarkson saying the things which people are thinking.
Some things are getting reptative but they still haven\'t had a challenge where the car has been beaten with clarkson driving it.
I take it all back, my youthful enthusiasm for mental supercars going fast has overcome my cynicism, maxing a trio of gnarly mid-engined supercars at the Nardo speed bowl is exactly what it should they have on Top Gear, cue the smokey powerslides.
Boom. Top gear back on its A game!!
Awesome episode!
Laughed my socks of at the start with "chinese stig"
A lot of p*ss taking of Hammond, and rightly so for taking a Noble with a price tag of £228K!!!!!!!!
All great cars. I would have the Lamborghini over the Ferrari and the other 2 any day.
I actually really enjoyed it - which is a good thing :D
(A lot of recent episodes have been pretty bland IMO)
To be honest, if Top Gear can\'t make 1800 bhp of mid-engined supercar seem exciting then it\'s a lost cause!

I think you have to give them a bit of praise tbh! Give those cars to say 5th gear and you would have Potato, Needel and Henderson scrabbling round a track and thats about it and perhaps those 2 other nerds discussing something completely random in the vein attempt at trying to be clever!
Going round the speed bowl took some balls imho and when they were at Imola they were definitely pushing the limits!
TG is a victim of its own success, we all expect every episode to have us laughing out loud or revealing in their adventures! I agree that on some terms that if they cant entertain us with those cars, they are doomed to failure, but think they got it spot on! I think there would have been a lot more action had the Noble not broken down, they did almost a days filling whilst the Noble was out of action.
Only thing i would have liked to have seen is what time Stig could have posted against the 458, but Clarkson got pretty close! Not bad for a fat, old motoring journalist! Heck, even May was giving it some beans!
Top Gear is way more entertaining than 5th Gear, they\'d have just oversteered round Castle Combe and Tiff would have bemoaned understeer in the 4 wheel drive Lambo and the fact that the Mclaren wouldn\'t let him powerslide. They would have then made a spurious comparison to racing car or something and then gone home.
Nardo was awesome, I like the fact they genuinely maxed some mean machinery at a gnarly track was cool, both at Nardo and Imola.
It is definitely an interesting current topic it seems from chat i have seen on other forums!
The 458 is a technical master piece, gorgeous looking too and the benchmark. Interesting to see how other brands go about it with the 4x4 (Lambo), sheer power and old school approach (Noble) or the similarly technical Maclaren.
I had quite a raging debate on Pistonheads with fans of the Noble, even at that stage the Noble was supposed to be around £200k, up from the original estimates of £125K. I actually dont get the Noble, big hp and rwd is nothing special and can see no way it justifies a price tag of £228k, i dont even think its pretty like the 458 or Mc or just mad like the Lambo! I get the point it takes driving back to basics, as Hamster said, like a modern day F40, but if you want your cars raw and basic, you can get that for a lot less than the Noble, Ultima for example!
So what would you guys choose out of the 4?
I\'d love a Noble, it\'s simple and honest, light weight and big power works. It may not push the boundaries of technology or raise the game but anything with 650 bhp that weighs 1200 kg is going to have alarming performance, Noble\'s also handle well. The price is excessive, but then so is the price on the Mclaren and the Lambo and the Ferrari and at that level I reckon the price becomes far less of an issue. Think of it as a 458 competitor and it\'s overpriced, think of it as a budget Enzo/Carrera GT alternative and it makes a lot more sense. Were it my money, I\'d pay off my mortgage instead however if I was looking for an adrenaline overload on track I\'d by the Noble.
If I was going to have just one car for all occasions I\'d have the Mclaren. It might not powerslide as well as the Ferrari or look as insane as the Lambo but I think it would be far more satisfying to own.
Curiosity begs to me ask Will, why not just buy a Atom V8 or Caterham R500 or Ultima, you could almost buy a Maclaren as well for the cost of the Noble?
I defo would not have the Noble given the choice , its FUGLY!!!!
I love that Lambo its bonkers, and the Macca you could drive it everyday, I would have the Macca in gleaming black metallic.
Aventador all the way for me, it\'s what a super car is meant to be, over the top styling over the top power and even managed to cook its own carbon brakes!! Lambos are the same as the zondas, over the top for no other reason than the simple fact that they can be.
Another that bring me to the lambo is the fact of the noise it makes! V12 NA, the other 2 were v8 with turbos in the way of the exhaust pulses, one man at mclaren made the mp4 sound that way because the turbo setup made the car super quiet. The noble and mclaren both have turbos to sort out mpg and emmissions.
Just how many more v12 or to put it another way high powered NA super cars are we going to see in the future? Not many as the environment is getting in the way.

That Macca sounded pretty awesome in the tunnel in all fairness :)
It did but the lambo drowned it out when floored!! That sound was made by a person tuning the exhaust note on the macca, but the lambo exhaust was made by tuning the exhaust;)
I do like the macca and it is the most affordable and I think the noble look fugly from straight on In front of it, other than that it looked good. Made the stupid turkey dump valve sound which I would never get bored of.
I would have the lambo still and would have the lambo over Ferrari.
Excellent episode :)
Wonder if they will cover that new bonkers Nissan \'shoe\' with a GTR engine in it. I must say I nearly puked when I first heard about this mashup of Nissan\'s, but it does actually look almost ok in black. But why the Juke - it\'s just a hideous car - fed up with all these blind sylists...
oh - and I\'d have the Noble - looks easy to maintain, given the fact Hammond got into the gearbox so easily ;)

I saw said programme too :) Isnt what you said above the same thing, both cars had their exhaust tuned to give said note?
Quote from: jetpilot;810221Curiosity begs to me ask Will, why not just buy a Atom V8 or Caterham R500 or Ultima, you could almost buy a Maclaren as well for the cost of the Noble?
The Atom V8 doesn\'t appeal, imagine driving that to a trackday at Castle Combe from East Anglia, that would be rubbish. Similarly with the Caterham R500, plus I don\'t fit in them, the Ultima is an option but I prefer the way the Noble looks. Plus it\'s slightly leftfield and different which is fun. The Mclaren would be fun on track but I think the Noble would be more rewarding to extract the best from.
Quote from: jetpilot;810237I saw said programme too :) Isnt what you said above the same thing, both cars had their exhaust tuned to give said note?
I think what Grant means is that the Lambo was tuned for power rather than an active exhaust so it makes a nice noise.
Quote from: jetpilot;810237I saw said programme too :) Isnt what you said above the same thing, both cars had their exhaust tuned to give said note?
the v12 had the exhaust tuned for power production which gives it its destinct sound, the macca had the sound tuned for sound only not power production.
just watched this on iplayer.. was good BUT what about an ascarii KZ1?
similar price, ok only 201mph top speed but much better looking than noble and mclaren.
admit its not as new as the others but i\'d go for ascarii. less common lol
I think it was more to do with new models available :)
i enjoyed the new episode and am looking forward to the new season coming, i would worry too much about owning any of those cars, how heart wrenching would it be if you left it parked somewhere and when you came back some balloon had run a key down the side of it!

If you have that kind of money you wouldn\'t be leaving it in places to get keyed. And the Lamborghini won\'t fit in a normal parking space;)
Chinese stig...:Giggle I know im just childish, however that show does raise one very vaild point....
Why oh why are we :censored::censored::censored::censored: messing about trying to make sure our emissions are under certain levels!!!
We might as well take a dust pan and brush to clean up after a volcano!!!!!!!!!!
The fake X5 was awesome !!!!! :burnout
I thought to others episode was going to be rubbish after the start but how wrong was I!!
Me and my dad have been sat here laughing our heads off at the movie car chase
The movie car chase was funny but it was a bit forced.
I don\'t know what people expect out of them?? They\'re making a tv show, a director producer etc are all there to make a programme. Watching three idiots drive around a track in cars for an hour would be extremely boring.
I get bored watching track videos after a couple minutes on YouTube
It wasn\'t bad but for me the Movie car chase bit wasn\'t as entertaining as some of the bits they\'ve done. Felt too much like the VW ad they\'ve done.
I just watched Top Gear, having fallen asleep last night trying to watch it :(
I thought it was very funnie :rollin & can\'t see what the problem is with people watching this program :reallymad
If you want a Car Program, then watch that Car Program on Channel 5 :D
Sorry my Rant over........................... :rollin
