Title: Workshop Manual - Rebuild Tolerances
Post by: PDale on January 17, 2012, 03:45:47 PM
I stumbled across this: http://www.turborx7.com/rereplacement.htm

Do any knowledgeable peeps know where the original info came from in terms of which workshop manual?

For instance, it says "As for the vertical scratches of the Rotor Housing edge,  the Rotor Housing is re-useable even if the steel base under the chromium  plating is exposed, if this has occurred no more than 2mm (0.08 in) from the  edge." along with other visual criteria.

In my 1995 workshop manual it just says "Check the chromium plated surface on the rotor housing for scoring, flaking and other damage."

I\'m guessing the info is a collection of rebuild info from across the different models and therefore various workshop manuals?

I know on the Pineapple Racing website they mention Mazda\'s tolerance of 2mm regarding the chromium plating and go on to say its too much damage for a quality rebuild.

I would be a bit concerned using tolerances from different models as they obviously don\'t operate in the same conditions, such as NA/Turbo, etc.

What does everyone else think?
