Title: very quick power FC question
Post by: fro on July 01, 2004, 08:24:11 AM
sorry if this has already been covered

Is pre-spool adjustable with a power fc?

The only reason I ask is because, with a stock ECU, my transition is a bit spikey
Thanks in advance

Rob

Do you have full exhaust? sounds like it.

Power FC should smooth it out but might not eliminate it altogether, depending on just how seriuos your exhaust is...

just a silenced midpipe. The downpipe is standard and rear box is a quiet jasma approved jobby.

I usually get 10psi on the first turbo, a 12psi spike and then 10 on the second :(

From what I\'ve read elsewhere, the other options are adjusting the arm that connects to the pre-spool \'door\' or sticking a smaller restrictor in the prespool actuator hose.. or some combination of the two :)
Then again, if the powerFC smooths it a little I\'ll be happy. I just want to play it safe.
Cheers

I thought that 10-12-10 is the normal boost pattern anyway? I don\'t have a boost gauge connected myself, but I\'m pretty sure it\'s working as it should there mate.

I think it should be 10-8-10 and the reason I\'m getting a brief spike is because the second turbo is pre-spooling too early (due to the de-cat).
I was offered a power FC for £500 a while ago and turned it down because I was unsure whether I\'d modify the car... wish I\'d taken it now :rollin

Ah - yep I think you\'re right.

I had some good links regarding boost issues but this is the only one I can find at the moment... (in case it\'s of any use)
