Title: 1992 RX7 type R
Post by: Mulv on December 28, 2011, 07:10:33 PM
Hi people, It is great regret that I need to sell the RX7.  I\'ve have been given the opportunity to move to Australia in the next 6 months and as it has been a ambition of mine for a while, I\'m not going to turn it down.  I was going to take the RX7 with me, but after much research, it is going to be a lot cheaper/easier for me to buy another when I get there.
I bought this car from Gaz (Gaz7470) and I believe Jetpilot also used to own it.
I have only done 2000 miles since I bought it.  I have used most of the original advert here.

1992 type r with the following mods i can remember

99 spec front bumper
cwest headlight conversation
Rx8 style rear lights
apexi ecu and commander
hks hardpipes
clifford alarm with auto engine start
tein adjustable suspension
indiglow interior lighting
extra boost gauge,oil pressure gauge
under car neon lighting
£3000 ice system
straight through exhaust from turbos back
new style seats
new battery
Probaly more but forgot everything i had done.

There is no documentation of a rebuild, we think this has been done in Japan - but can\'t prove this so have to assume not.  It does drive strongly and pulls well.  there is 6 months MOT and tax.
I have a few parts (rear spats and a pillar pod gauge) that are not fitted but can go with the car.
This is a very reluctant sale and if it was at all possible I would take her with me.

£4000 ono

Great looking RX-7 but I\'m afraid I\'m not interested in buying it. Rather I\'m an Australia who has bought an FD while abroad with the intention of bring it back with me. From the research I\'ve done it should work out better given the price of FD\'s in OZ.

You are allowed to bring in 1 personal car every 5 years without being taxed on it.

However I\'m wondering if I\'m wrong? And you have uncovered all kinds of other costs i.e quarantine, shipping, on road costs etc..

Feel free to PM me with anything you found that would indicate this? Or email  me at gavindoolan at gmail.com, I would sincerely appreciate it.

Thanks mate.

I have emailed you mate - it works out expensive to ship - although less cash that to buy the shipping, and other costs are a lot and that money I need to relocate

As ke11thp said but also any more you might have of the exterior and some of the engine bay?

Has it had a recent compression test? Do you know who your nearest rotary specialist is?

I\'ll get some more pics up shortly.  No recent compression test, my nearest specialist is ether WGT or Silverstone autosports, both about an hour from me

I\'m not going to take it out I\'m afraid as I won\'t be able to take it to Australia with me, the car goes as it is.  I\'m not really willing to reduce the price either as she has generated an awful lot of interest.  To be honest I have priced to sell, I genuinely think it is a great car for the price and wouldn\'t even consider the sale if i was not moving.

Sorry

Hi there, I was wondering if you had sorted out the issues you mentioned on here when you bought this car- specifically the intermittent boost, hard pipe and replaced the AST. I seem to remember this car being priced at £3600 last time it was for sale, what work has been done since?

Post by: Mulv on January 01, 2012, 05:57:28 PM
Yes, all was sorted, bear in mind when I got the car as advertised at that price, there was no tax, MOT etc, etc.  All issued fixed and I have added bits of body kit and replaced most of the interior that had scratched etc, etc.

yeah,
2003 E46 M3 coupe in black, 90k miles, has the 19" rims refurbished in graphtie.
Kiwi leather interior, standard M3 other than she has been lowered a touch.
SMG gearbox with paddle shift.
Very quick car and to be honest for a comfortable quick car for daily use is the best I have ever owned.
I\'m at work at present, so will post some pics when I get home later tonight.
looking for £9000 ono

Sorry, just re reading this thread on my old girl when i came across this comment!

If this is true, what a fantastic idea, a government who doesnt want to fleece you and see\'s some logic than another car imported actually has quite a few costs they will get anyway, registration, tax etc

Doesn\'t stop the onset of rot on a non galvanised chassis with our fetish for road salt. I\'m after a recently (couple of years max) imported car.
