Title: Good news - Bad news
Post by: johnf on December 27, 2011, 04:46:07 PM
Well the good news is. as far as my wife is concerned, that after many years of shall we say selective hearing I\'ve been fitted with hearing aids.

No excuses now.

As for the bad news, I\'ve changed my FC exhausts for quieter boxes, much better only now I can hear all sorts of things I couldn\'t before.

Thrust bearing, diff, and strange noises all over the place.

Best solution seems to be to remove them when driving - perfect.

Will be putting my old boxes up for sale, so if you\'re interested keep an eye out.

Wonderful news. If we do a trackday reasonably local I\'ll take you out in the FD then you will get the meaning of a loud interior :Giggle

Joys of no sound proofing, interior and everything braced up. Wear earplugs now most of the time !

ha ha ha , i just turn up the radio at that point ;)

its worrying listening to all the noises

in the white cab i have , thats very very quiet compared to the JDM one , you can hear everything thats going on in the car .. not sure if i like it or not

i like to hear the car screaming thru the gears

so do i :

1 - swap the ones from the JDM to the UK
2 - see how many pennies you want for yours ;)

I do remember taking a workmate home a few years back in the FB and his face was a picture when I engine braked ! He said he had never heard sounds like it. Although he did own a proper mini !

Makes the character of the car. I\'ve got a thump at the minute (sounds like the exhaust is bumping on something) in the FB and the new gearbox does sound better than the original !

A friend of mine, not an old chap, has always had problems with his ears, he recently under went an op they thought might correct it and it did!

He is chuffed to bits, except he now realises he lives in a noisy house, lol.

I looked at the Racing Beat system Clive sells through Mazda Rotary Parts, they look very nice.

Prof had a racing beat exhaust on his turbo II cab, it was a nice suble rotary sound, nothing too loud, but more of a \'sporty\' tone.

I wear in the ear hearing aids and recently I de-catted and added a race silencer on my car and the sound is just loud, just beautiful!

Fortunately my hearing aids help with the increased volume :Giggle

I have a special remote unit that allows me to change the programme and volume. They are also blue tooth and wireless capable which I can use my mobile phone directly and I can also listen to music. Pretty cool technology.

Now, which programme was it that switches off the wifes voice....:evillaugh
