I thought I\'d start this thread early whilst I had a few spare moments!
Anyone who is interested in attending trackdays in 2012 should subscribe to this thread as I will use it to post updates on the calendar, and links to specific trackday threads as they take shape.
Here are the events that are already in the 2012 calendar;
12th May (Saturday), Castle Combe. I\'m organising a 20 car track session at Japfest as I did last year.

26th July (Thursday), Snetterton. A joint Pettit Racing and Mazdaontrack event.

Other candidate circuits for 2012 events are; Cadwell Park, Oulton Park, Brands Hatch, Bedford, Castle Combe (full day return) and Donnington. Donnington was quite expensive last year so we didn\'t arrange a trip there - hoping it might be a little cheaper this year!
Any comments, ideas, thoughts or questions about trackdays next year? Just post up in here..... :)

So far, 15 people have expressed an intention to go via the MRC/RX8OC forums. It really is a very good track, with very technical parts, two long straights, hairpins and the fantastically long and sweeping "Coram" bend!

I just wanted to let you know there is a lot of activity behind the scenes in getting together a programme of trackdays for 2012. I have had great input from NickD at Mazdaontrack (thanks Nick) and have been ploughing through available trackday dates & various track limitations.
I was hoping to include a full trackday at Castle Combe in the programme, but onerous operating regulations at that track is making this unlikely. The noise limit is 100dB (not too much of a problem) but the number of cars on track at any one time is limited to 20 on a few days, but only TWELVE on most days. This would lead to either sky-high prices or long pitlane queues. A full sessioned day would involve less waiting, but would be a re-run of Japfest :(
Anyway, I hope to be able to post up details of the proposed programme in the next week or so, so please be patient :Typing

I\'m also told the event on the same link for Donington Park on SUNDAY, 11 March has spaces available and I\'m aware of an MX-5 group booking at £125 per place for this full OPL day!
I\'ve never used this trackday outfit before (Focused Events), but have just started a conversation with them about a Donington date latrer in the year as they are generally offering a very good prices.
If anyone can go, then I\'d welcome some feedback on how the day went.
These events will not attract the MRC discount, but at these prices they are a steal anyway.

Can\'t see the FD being track ready till later in year plus donnington would black flag the car for noise.

@Shaun - so if we arranged a trackday at Donington you\'d be unable to meet the noise regs in any way? That would be a real shame :(
I\'d be surprised if they didn\'t black flag my car. I run close to 100dbl and they are very strict. Would get away with one of the louder 105 Db days, possibly !

I\'ve not been able to complete the calendar fully for this year as I\'m still waiting for some information to come in.
One important piece of "hot" news, on which I\'d welcome any input to confirm (or refute) - the noise limits at some tracks (Oulton being one) is being reduced form 105dB to 102dB this year. This is an effective "halving" of the noise levels. Not a problem for RX-8\'s, but maybe a problem for some of the louder RX-7\'s?
However, to get things rolling, here is the programme as it currently stands;

Still waiting for front of RX being repaired, need to fit larger brake master cylinder, modify the front canards and design a new difuser !
(Think at least two will be achieved !)
Looks like i\'m not gonna be able to get on any tracks this year if the noise levels are being reduced. Mine runs around 103-105db according to Cadwell when they measured it, And that was with the bungs in!!!!!!
Anyone got a cheap quiet TII exhaust for sale?

Looking at Trackdays a lot of the Oulton days are still 105DBl. http://www.trackdays.co.uk/tracks/oulton_park.htm .You could always go along on the 10th march and get your exhaust tested !

NickD has just emailed me to confirm Oulton is still 105dB static - phew!!!
Loks like there is some pressure to reduce the noise levels at many tracks but not (yet?) implemented in 2012 :)

Dunno mate it was 113 db without the bungs though! It all depends on how high they get you to rev it. Last time was slightly higher than the time before. I have been thinking about replacing my exhaust though with something quieter for a while. Maybe nows the time.
Provided I can fix the Thermostat housing issue tonight I\'d be up for the Snetterton event.

There was no problem with places a few days ago, but as usual with such events, when the places are gone, they\'re gone!
The more rotaries the merrier, we\'ve got a good sized group already (15 when I last checked), so it\'ll be fun - I hope you\'ll be able to make it along. There\'s a BBQ planned for the evening too :mmmm
Well the housing\'s re-tapped and the new Mishimoto thermostat is in. Just about to take her for a test run to make sure it\'s all good :driving

Alan (Countzero on here) has asked me to let people know about a trackday he\'s involved in organising. The unfortunate thing is that it is on Sat, 8th Dec, the day after the Brand Hatch trackday, but I\'m happy to notify people on here as it might a closer venue for some, and/or people find a Saturday event easier to attend. Here\'s the details from Alan, who is also a member of the Wessex Car Club;
Dorset Sports Cars (DSC) the main sponsors for the Wessex Car Club have arranged for a track day at Silverstone on Sat, 8th December.
This is however a bit different from your average invite.
DSC will be bringing their race truck and 3 Porsche race cars and you will also have access to pit garages.
DSC will be on hand to give advice on set up and will be able to give limited mechanical assistance, they will also be giving tuition and passenger rides in their race cars.
The cost for the day is £269 and the noise limit is 105db.
DSC are also offering a free pre-track health check at their Wimbourne premises and have offered to help transport any spare wheels in their truck.
To help us organise this you will need to register on the WCC forum http://www.wessexcarclub.com/Forum/index.php registration is free.
The day is organised by Gold Track, and fully marshalled by Silverstone staff.
We will need final numbers by the 15th of October, and to pay by 20th October.
We will individually pay DSC, they can invoice for those who have VAT options, if you want this just let me know how you want it to be presented.
A flyer is attached.
PS we may also have another race team involved that will be Mazda related...
I suggest that anyone interested simply registers with the WCC forum and communicates with Alan on there, to make it easier for him to keep track of who is interested.

As the 2012 season comes to a close I\'d like to express my thanks to everyone who has come along to a trackday event in 2012, whether to drive, or just come along to be a part of the day. The events where we get a group are not only fun on track, but the social side in the pits and/or meals/hotels makes it a great break, centred around the cars we all love.
