Title: fitting re amemiya fixed lights
Post by: playtime on December 07, 2011, 10:49:02 PM
Excuse me for being thick, but Ive just bought re amemiya fixed lights, and when going to fit the surrounds and lens, its easy enough to just drill a few holes and they lined up well with the wings and bonnet. However when I went to fit the double lens units, they dont seem to fit against the inner panels the original pop-up lights bolted to. It looks like I have to cut away alot of this structural back panel, and this doesn\'t look safe.

Sooooooooooooo has anyone fitted these lights and how did they do it, before I make a mess of my front panel.

Big cheers in advance for any info.

Cheers, Mike

Yes, for the genuine RE-Amemiya lights you do have to cut out most of the rear mounting area.  It is not structural though so get your angle grinder in there and chop away!

You can usually tell by the wiring harness, lenses, plastic cover quality.  If unsure post some pics or email me and I will confirm for you.  I have seen plenty of sets over the years.

Camera at the woman\'s, but the lens have url or irl or something like that stamped into the glass. The bracketery is steel, and there\'s quite an intricate looking side brace that bolts in around front part of inner guard, and inner lens has an unusual rubber box screwed onto it. The black surround has no branding, and comes with 3 stainless mounting brackets, and the perspex cover is curved and follows the contours of the wing / bonnet and front bumper. It all looks well made, if not quite abit worn looking from age. Will throw up pics at the weekend if still not enough info. Cheers
