Title: Clutch for drag racing?
Post by: Brett on December 04, 2011, 08:44:08 AM
I\'m helping a mate try to spec a clutch for use on the strip, power will be over 600 horse, with commesurate torque?

This is to go on a FD BTW.

What are people using?  What sort of life are you getting out of it?

To my knowledge, Rob,Blitz and James are using OS Giken triple plate clutch. So, I guess this clutch is good for drag racing

I believe there clutches are OS twin Plates.

I\'m using a HKS twin plate, rated to 1500hp.

James is not using a twin. He is using a triple and with his power level he Will need it!

Thanks for the info :wave

It won\'t be a street car (as far as I know) so drivability isn\'t an issue.

Never heard of McLeod?  (off to see google right now!)

McLeod, probably the leaders in drag clutches, good kit but is pricey, you will need to factor in the cost of a push pull convertor if its going into an FD

As blitz says. Bit pricey, but if you can get it shipped right. The price is good

Of you can break it, they will replace it.

I know that Ed might have a few good looking twin plate clutches:
