There is a massive argument about what oil is best for the rotary, I just use \'Halfords orange\' 10-40 mineral, the oil is changed every 6000 miles and a new cheap oil filter is changed - no point in spending much money on the oil filter, its not going to be on there for very long!

If you are going to keep the car for a while look at getting a \'futmoto oil drain valve\' its basically a tap that goes into the side of the sump replacing the sump plug, much easier oil changes - I can do mine with no mess by just pushing the catch tank under the car, don\'t even need to jack the car up!

i got 1 of those valves on mine, i was worried to begin with with the tap on it turning on when on the road but after i worked it for the first time i realised there was nothing to worry about, def a good piece of kit

I looked at those when someone on here posted about them (probably you!). They look like a good idea since we change our oil so much.

I think they do a \'tap lock\' sort of arrangement for off-road vehicles incase they get knocked on large rocks etc, but ive never had an issue, they are really well made.

if you dont know what oil is in it i\'d suggest changing the lot rather than mixing whatever is in there (mineral or semi) with mineral.

I get mine from Eurocarparts...I think they normally stock at least one variant. I\'ve been able to just go in and pick it up to date. Couple different brands but the most recent was Carlube. The stuff doesnt stay in there long, I change mine over every 5k kms so about 3000 miles. Get the oil filter from there as well, like Mitch said: dead cheap stuff, no need to be fancy.

Because the oil isn\'t going to be in there for very long, plus the engine burns it as it is in use its ok to use the standard stuff, with other high performance cars where the oil is being reused for a year or so you would need to.
