Title: another which tyre thread :)
Post by: cyman on November 23, 2011, 12:23:30 AM
the fd is currently pushing 450 rwhp and at present im running toyo  t1\'rs on it. they are a great all round tyre and stand upto to track days well.

now heres the thing ive got a set of rota\'s to put on the car im going to put 225 up front and 255 at the rear. what im considering is do i go for a softer tyre like a toyo 888 or r1r or another make?? i have the choice of running the rotas all year or just for the summer but what i dont know is how do these tyres actually wear on the road?? i only do about 2k miles a year with about 3 track days. if i run the tyres all year will they last very long?? ive heard some of the softer tyres dont like to be left out in heavy frosts anyone come across this?? and the last more obvious question are there any other tyres that anyone can recomend that are along the same lines as the toyo 888 or r1r\'s.

I used to get about 3-4K miles out of the semi slicks on a kit car. They don\'t come with a lot of tread depth so really you\'d be wasting money if you run them all the time IMHO.

I\'ve used Toyo, Kumho, Falken, Yoko and they\'ve all been pretty similar for the middling performance tyres on the road.
