This is doing my head in now. I have a couple of bookmarks for pages on this forum but every time I click on them (after being away for a few mins) I get a message:
"The administrators want you to view a thread before you continue to browse the forum."
I then have to login or click on a link in the goto bar.
I am using Firefox on PC and OSX.
I dont have this problem on my iPhone. That goes straight through no probs.
I have asked our admin guys to look at this for you.
Hi Grub,
If you\'re arriving at the site as an "anonymous" user then the forum tries to display the admin message to you. It can\'t really tell that you haven\'t been here before.
In order to get this fixed I think you\'ll have to adjust some of your browser settings so that you stay logged in, then it will behave in the same way as the iPhone.
Could you take a look at your cookie settings for this web site? It looks like the settings for MRC are "temporary" or expire when you close a browser window so it thinks you\'re an anonymous user. The attached image shows the settings that I use to browse the forum. You might also find something when you click on the "exceptions..." button.
While there\'s more things to try, that\'s the first one to check ;)
Ian.
Ah OK, that makes sense. I will take a look. Thanks
It is sorted now.
I think the problem may have been that I created the bookmarks when I was logged in. I saved some new ones making sure I wasn\'t logged in and it appears all is good now.
I did look at my cookie settings but they were as they should be.
Thanks
Ah ok - something about the session was probably saved with the bookmark and those do timeout.
Glad to hear you got it sorted. :Thumbsup!
Ian.
