Japfest 2012 has now been set for Saturday 12th May 2012. Last year the RX-8 owners club and the MRC each organised a track sessionwhich showcased our great cars to some large crowds, and everyone I spoke to seemed to thoroughly enjoy their time out on track!
It\'s early days, but so I can gauge interest, who\'s up for another MRC organised, 20 car, 15-18 minute session, open to any rotary powered car? Provisional cost will be about £35 for non-members and £20 for full club members.

Were getting there :D, but where\'s all those great and powerful RX-7\'s to help put on a great show, mind you Jim (Lennycarlof) proves again and again that even a stock engined car is a great car on track but if you have some real power so much the better :D
Remember the car will only go as fast as you make it go, there\'s no pressure for you to go faster than you wish to and Castle Coombe is a very good track for a first time out on track as its\' not difficult to learn your way round and there\'s plenty of room for any errors you may wish to make;)

I know a few people that would disagree ;)
It is a great circuit, I love it...but just be aware that there are no real run off areas...a few feet of grass is all that stands between you and the barrier...and damp grass doesn\'t slow you down much :rollin
True about the runoff however we are not racing, the only thing setting ur speed is how comfortable you are approaching a corner.

I only live down the road in Westbury and have an old Mitsi colt Gti track car that will be doing 5/6 sessions at Japfest 2012 , its been round combe a fair bit and on track at the last 2 Japfests .....anyway\'s as it\'s stripped out it also doubles as a van So I will be bringing everything " just incase" oil. mixed coolant, brake fluid, trolley jacks. various tools (socket set spanners screw drivers etc), scan tool, nuts bolts, jubilees, hose, foot pump, tyre gauge magic wand! etc etc. So if your thinking about track but unsure of support don\'t worry i\'ll have it !
^^ Boosted, that\'s great to know - thx.
Most of us bring a few tools and spares along - just in case, but good to know that with your contribution we could rebuild and engine if needed...............:Thumbs-up
Could we add Phil Collard please Malcolm (fd :Party)

^^ No problem.
:D Fantastic, that\'s a full group of 20, but if anyone else sees this, please let me know on here if you would like to drive as I\'ll be running a reserve list. Japfest is a long way off and there is every chance someone will have to change their plans (some may not have their cars ready in time!)
Hi Malcolm,
Yep stick me on the reserve list, this should be Kermits maiden voyage
with the new sequential box fitted.
Dave
If we have enough "reserves" plus people who want a second go we will try and organise a different session as well
Really pleased that we are going top be able to put on an excellent Rotary "display" to the largest Japanese car community event in Europe:Thumbs-up,
With the quality and variety of cars on the list we should really show em that we have serious cars when we get them romping round a race track after all race tracks are in the Mazda DNA of every model we all drive :chat

VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE (VIN:Laugh) - PAYMENT!!Booking forms for Japfest tracktime sessions are now available and we want to get these back to Japfest asap to ensure we secure our track sessions. Japfest tracktime is always very popular, so the sooner we do this the better.
However, Japfest want full payment for the tracktime at time of booking. It looks as though we are quickly heading for TWO sessions so I would ask
EVERYONE on
BOTH lists to pay your tracktime fee asap vai the MRC shop;
LINK TO JAPFEST TICKETS (http://www.rotaryshop.co.uk/bjapfest-rotary-track-session---saturday-12th-mayb-1669-p.asp)
This is the way the prices work;
Non members £30 per session
Full MRC members £20 for your FIRST session, £30 for the second (ie the club will subsidise one session).
Remember, if you book individually with Japfest the ticket price is £35 per session.
Please pay up asap, the cashflow on the club funds at this time of the year is quite difficult, so we\'ll need the majority of the cash into the club before we can book our slot!

Just Paid, When do we find out the session time as I want 3 sessions for my track car as well....and dont want them back to back ?
Jon
^^^ Jon, I recall last year that both Lisa & I were pestering the Japfest team constantly to get this information and we didn\'t get it until 14 April (having paid in mid January!!), and even then there was a caveat "this may be subject to change". Sorry, but I think this may be a problem for you booking other slots but, regrettably, it\'s outside my control.
Casey, No problem perfectly understand I got D K & Q for my little colt Gti. If it ends too close I can find someone to swap on the day!
I have paid through the club for the Rotary only session!

This is probably due to you using IE9 and a "bug" meaning to post correctly you need to change IE9 to "compatibility mode".

Am using Vista as well. I could not post anything anywhere using IE so tried Firefox instead. Can post but can\'t do annotate excercse.
Perhaps it\'s a sign that I should upgrade to Windows 7
I dont feel such a dumbass now....had a go and failed..vista!

Mir, sorry, I don\'t understand, can\'t you simply go to the club shop and pay via PayPal there? If not, please PM Lisa direct to see if you can sort out another way to transfer payment - thx.

PAYMENT TIME - LAST CALL
Thank you to everyone who has paid so far.
The club have to pay £600 upfront for each track session, so £1200 in total. In order to ensure we don\'t end up with paying for places that don\'t get taken up I have to ask that anyone who has not paid does so by;
Midnight on Sunday 15 January - at the latest
Apologies to those people who are unsure whether you (or your car!) can make it, but if we don\'t get both these sessions booked soon we may not get them at all, such is the popularity of the tracktime at Japfest.
On the basis of payments already received we have submitted forms to secure one session, but we won\'t proceed with booking/paying for a 2nd session until more payments confirming places are secured.

No problem Steve - I really need to see what places have been paid for by the end of next weekend.
Dave & Simon - I will review the situation next Monday when people have paid up (or not). I\'ll make the assumption, for planning purposes, that both of you would like to take places in BOTH sessions. If, on that basis, it looks like we are close to 2x20 paid places I will shuffle the sessions so you can do both. Correct me if I am wrong in you both wanting to do both sessions?!
You know me Malcolm, I go out on track as much as pos... even slicks in the wet doesn\'t stop me as you know !!! lol
Booking forms for Japfest tracktime sessions are now available and we want to get these back to Japfest asap to ensure we secure our track sessions. Japfest tracktime is always very popular, so the sooner we do this the better.
However, Japfest want full payment for the tracktime at time of booking. It looks as though we are quickly heading for TWO sessions so I would ask EVERYONE on BOTH lists to pay your tracktime fee asap vai the MRC shop;
LINK TO JAPFEST TICKETS
This is the way the prices work;
Non members £30 per session
Full MRC members £20 for your FIRST session, £30 for the second (ie the club will subsidise one session).
Remember, if you book individually with Japfest the ticket price is £35 per session.
Please pay up asap, the cashflow on the club funds at this time of the year is quite difficult, so we\'ll need the majority of the cash into the club before we can book our slot!

Great stuff, but keep those payments coming in. Given the popularity of this, I\'ll have no choice but to remove anyone who has not paid by midnight next Sunday to allow a fair chance to others who are willing to pay to secure their place (and reduce club risk on covering payments!)
Will get payment sorted sometime tomorrow Malcolm :yes
plus me will be getting my pay tomorrow :Thumbs-up

Anyone else want to go on the reserve list?

Clarky, you haven\'t formatted the post correctly and have you paid for your second session ?
Dave
^^ Thanks Dave, John has logged off, so I\'ve corrected the formatting so the next person along won\'t have to!
I\'ll send Johna PM to ask about the 2nd session payment.....
Nice one Malcolm, sorry to jump on it....My OCD kicks in !!! lol
At his rate it doesn\'t look like any drop outs for the first session !!! damn it !
This could be the first outing for my new sequential box in Kermit...should be entertaining !!! lol
Quote from: Sicknote;806389Clarky, you haven\'t formatted the post correctly and have you paid for your second session ?
Dave
Sincere apologies for my error! why do you need to know about the second session?
You\'ve got ya name down for session 2 as well, it\'s not just a reserve list, it\'s a dedicated second track time. :)
John, you\'ve got a PM......;)
Thanks for your PM Malcolm, I would reply but not being a member....I can\'t !! :(
I\'m not being ignorant...honest !!! :)
Dave

Yes that is right, it is not a reserve list, i am quite aware what the second track session is, what has it got to do with you when and how i pay?
ooooh, pick ya toys off the floor fella !!!
C\'mon guys calm down, it\'s fantastic to see this event is going to be so well supported this year; even better than last, but no need for things to overheat ;)
There are only 9 club sessions at Japfest this year and MRC will be taking two, the RX8OC have also taken two, so nearly half the club track action will be exclusive to Mazda rotaries. That\'s a great showing at one of the biggest UK Jap events of the year :Thumbs-up
John, as per my PM, please pay for your place on 2nd session (if you haven\'t already) and let me know so I can keep things up to date - thx.
lol, sorry Malc and John.
I was going to reformat the page but thought you\'d accidentally forgotten about the second session John. :)

I\'m starting a "reserve list" for any places not taken up by the deadline of midnight this coming Sunday. Any places not paid for will be offered as follows, based on posts, PM\'s and phonecalls I have received;
1. Sicknote - place in 1st session.
2. cyman - place in 1st session.
3. DreRX8 - place in 2nd session.
4. a.tapos - place in 2nd session
Anyone else want to go on the reserve list?
Isn\'t it weird, a couple of years ago we could hardly get anybody out on track
and now we\'re fighting for places...awsomeness !!! :)

lol, The engine was run in ages ago, I would post the pics up but I be a low life guest. :o)
So yes, I will be tracking her to the full, going to have a full day at Abbingdon
in February first to get used to the sequential though. :)

Quick post to say this is WONDERFULL :chat because really up until last year Lisa and myself trudged down to this event year after year puzzled why our Rotary comunaty would not support the largest Japanese car event in Europe and now you all are :driving
One of the main aims of Mazdarotaryclub has always been to promote our wonderful Rotarys no matter what the model, and now this year we can all show what great cars we all own to the world at large and with the track sessions one of the reasons ---------------------WHY WE OWN THEM :driving:Thumbs-up

Malcolm can you put CrissyUK down as a second session reserve... thought she was already on the list :S
Well it will be fun. I am seriously hoping that my car will be ready. I have already order and bought loads of parts. As clive said, people will see the rotary power. I am planning for 700 at the wheels at only 1 bar:D. It\'s possible because, I made 553 at 0.7 bar a boost at Pips. So let\'s hope I get what I am aiming for lollll

Booking forms for Japfest tracktime sessions are now available and we want to get these back to Japfest asap to ensure we secure our track sessions. Japfest tracktime is always very popular, so the sooner we do this the better.
However, Japfest want full payment for the tracktime at time of booking. It looks as though we are quickly heading for TWO sessions so I would ask EVERYONE on BOTH lists to pay your tracktime fee asap vai the MRC shop;

This is the way the prices work;
Non members £30 per session
Full MRC members £20 for your FIRST session, £30 for the second (ie the club will subsidise one session).
Remember, if you book individually with Japfest the ticket price is £35 per session.
Please pay up asap, the cashflow on the club funds at this time of the year is quite difficult, so we\'ll need the majority of the cash into the club before we can book our slot!

Well so far that would be me !! hehe
Would I get it for the £20 or do I have to pay £30....... Malcolm !!!! :)

:Giggle:Giggle If those circumstances arose, and given there is a waiting list I\'d suggest you pay Greg what he paid for it. I know he\'s a member and will have paid £20, but in such circumstances I\'d let it ride if you sorted it out directly with him.
Greg, at the moment, with a growing reserve list, I can\'t see there would be a problem with "reselling" your place if you found you couldn\'t make it.
Thanks Malc. :)
Ok cool then id say the next inline for slots should bring all the required bits encase but dont be disappointed if I manage to attend cos as sure as damit im gonna try.

Nah, you\'re OK. As I\'m in one session already, and I\'m also down in the RX8OC session, I don\'t mind dropping out of one session. I\'d rather like to see (and hear) a session from the sidelines too.
If we had trouble filling all the sessions I\'d happily take both, but it would be good to have as many different rotary cars as possible "out there". Besides, I\'ve only got a very boring (looking) grey RX-8 anyway ;)

Quote from: Dan507;808443Do you know what time the session will be. as i want to book another :D
Bump. I\'ve noticed the sessions are already starting to sell out!
Dan, sorry not to have replied sooner, we haven\'t been allocated timeslots yet. Japfest have only just formally acknowledged our paperwork for the trackslots - the Japfest wheels seen to tuen exceedingly slowly!
Despite chasing weekly last year, we didn\'t get allocated track session times until very late (it wasn\'t just us, it was the same for the RX8OC). I think it was a week or two before the event when we finally got the info. Don\'t ask me why. Maybe they were still finalising the "show slots" (e.g drifting) and fitted the club slots around these as the last pieces in the timetable.
That\'s fair enough. Just bought a 14:24 session. hopefully it wont be too close and im sure i\'ll be able to sell it if push comes to shove.
^^ Either that, or we might be able to swap you with someone in session one, as there are some in that session not doing session 2. We can look at that option once we (eventually) have our session times :)
Wicked! :Thumbsup!
I got these !!!!!!!!see below , all spaced out nice to give me some time to get round the stands and the car brakes to cool ! hopefully the rotary only session does not clash with these ...wait an see time....2 off these are for my trusty Colt GTi. track/tip/loaner/van car. And 1 other for my 7 if all ok on Rotary only session.Clive.... I was hoping to tuck away at the back of the stand outta the way if poss ( i can bring a car cover LOL) ! But it will be full of just in case tools, fluids etc that all can use just in case. Usually at Japfest i park up behind the bridge and chuck all the tools etc in the hedge! I work on the idea if i bring it i wont use it!.....and has paid dividends for the last 5 years!

Good to know that Japfest are getting the public tracktime sessions sorted anyway!
Any ideas on the times yet buddy?
^^ Sorry Dan, no info yet, if it is anything like last year we kept asking for this and it wasn\'t until ~2 weeks before Japfest we finally got it!
URGENT AND HUGELY IMPORTANT: OK, so you are all sitting back smugly and looking forward to your time on track (well I am anyway ;)) BUT have you booked your Japfest entry ticket and stand pass? If not, you won\'t get into the event and won\'t be going on track :(
There is a thread running OVER HERE (http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?p=816697#post816697) were Lisa is trying to ensure everyone who is going to Japfest has got their entry ticket and standpass organised. There are some worrying gaps in her list so it would be helpful if everyone would hop over on that link and let Lisa know if you need tickets and standpasses via the MRC or if you have secured these via another source. I know some of you will be attending via other clubs so may not be on the MRC stand at Japfest. Not a problem, but please let Lisa know the situation PRONTO. Thankyou :Thumbs-up
Casey, I am sure I am in, however, due to the current state of my car, it does not look like as if I am going to be attending a track session :(
Those people who may want to take my space up on the track session, please get in touch with me. I will confirm my attendance nearer the time.
Cheers
Mir
^^^Really, really sorry to hear that Syed :( I was looking forward to seeing and hearing your rotary on track. I do hope you can make it along, even if "sans auto".
I will contact Jayra and DreRX8, as first reserves on the list and ask them to contact you directly to arrange to pay you for your track session places (I\'ll relinquish my claim at this stage). If they don\'t take up the option than I\'ll offer the place(s) to others on the reserve list. To be fair, as we have a reserves list please don\'t sell the places to anyone else at this point.
Jayra needs to purchase your £30 place and DreRX8 your £20 place. I will make separate arrangements for DreRX8 to pay an additional £10 to match the published prices everyone else is paying.
If there are nay questions, let me know :)

Session H 11.24am Mazda Rotary Club
Those first 2 are tight by the time ive made it back to the stand it will be time to get back out there again lol
^^I don\'t think we\'ll have time to go back to the stand. Come off the track, and then join pitlane queue straight away as they\'ll be wanting to line up the cars for the next session well in advance. There should be a period of ~15 minutes where the engine can be turned off and left to cool. Also, make certain to do a really good cooling off lap when the chequered flag comes out on the first session!
What happened to session B?
Are these sessions only 15 minutes long?
:)

I think we be requiring Malcolm to herd us on time :rollin:rollin:rollin:rollin
Don\'t know yet, it\'s unusual to know our session times this early!
This is the wrong place but anyone meeting up and convoying il be coming from wycombe way I know there is always groups from the rx8 oc but thought it would be a good idea to stick with fellow MRC stand peeps.
Quote from: CrissyUK;817739What happened to session B?

:)
Session B, 9.18-9.36, is allocated to the "Z Club" session. So they will be lined up in the pitlane waiting to go out as soon as we come in at 9.18 from session A. That\'s means whilst they are out, the marshalls will want us lining up in the pitlane again ready to go out as soon as they come back in at 9.36. So it will be, exit track 9.18am, drive straight round to pitlane, queue up and switch off engine for an ~15 min cool down, then back out again at 9.36am.
Session "slots" are 18 minutes total, which probably equates to ~15 minutes on track, plus 3 minutes of "changeover". That\'s the same as last year, if I recall correctly.
Quote from: shifty;817778This is the wrong place but anyone meeting up and convoying il be coming from wycombe way I know there is always groups from the rx8 oc but thought it would be a good idea to stick with fellow MRC stand peeps.
Probably a little bit early for this one. However, why not start up a separate thread with a proposal for a rendezvous point (or points) and meeting times and others will undoubtly post up?
There is a dedicated convoy section HERE (http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=102) but it might need the occasional bump to ensure people see it.
There may also be, like me, a lot of people staying very near the circuit the night before to avoid an insanely early start from home on the day :Giggle

RX-8 Track Sessions
Session O
Briefing Time 12:20
Track Time:13:48
If anyone can no longer attend the track sessions that they have paid for as above, please let me or Lisa know as soon as possible as we may be able to reallocate your place.
IMPORTANT - FOR THOSE IN THE 9.00am SESSION it would seem sensible to proceed directly to the soundtest area (if open) and then to the pitlane queuing area - near the passenger bridge, it should be signposted. If you park up there and let the officials know you are in the 9.00am session then this should be fine. You can then go to the sign-on desk and the briefing at 8.10am. By the time this is completed and you return to your car we should be moved into the pit area ready for entry to the track at 9.00am. If you attempt to go to the MRC or RX8OC stand areas on entry to the circuit and then try to get to the pitlane entry you will find yourself going against all the traffic and people entering the event on the single track road. With this in mind, it might be sensible to put the TRACKTIME "TT" event pass in your windscreen on the way into the circuit, USE GATE A and NOT the stand pass as the marshalls will hopefully then direct you to the pitlane area instead of the stand.
That\'s my advice, but we\'ll have to "wing it" on the day ;)
It is entirely possible that, over the next few days, at least one car may have a problem, resulting in having to withdraw from the track session(s). This being the case, if there is anyone who is interested in picking up places that become available last minute would they please PM me their mobile number, which session(s) they could take and I will contact you if a place becomes available. This may well happen very last minute, so it would be prudent to make any car preparations "just in case". There is no guarantee, but I think the probabilty is quite high.
Should this situation arise, I will pass over the track papers on the day itself and collect £20 or £30 payment for the place, as appropriate, to pass on to the driver who has had to withdraw.

I was planning to arrive as early as possible so I can empty the boot at the club stand before heading to the tracktime area for sound test etc.
But I think "wing it" on the day sounds like the only idea...

Any idea what time we can start to arrive at the circuit??

Ah! - very good point, not good to go on track with all the gear on board. Hmm, looks like we\'ll have to arrive as soon as the gates open and dump stuff on the club stand before heading back to the pitlane before the briefing at 8.10am. Not sure if the gates open at 7.00 or 7.30am. I\'ll try and find out and post up on here.....
Due to other commitments I\'m unable to make this now.

Done :Thumbs-up

EDIT: any news on the drop links Lisa?
I might be giving it miss too. :( :( :( :(. My car is not ready yet, I can confirm my attendance by tomorrow.
As promised with Casey, I will be letting Casey know about my attendance and I will let him decide with regards to who will be taking my space.

Thanks Malcolm,
I too will have a boot full of \'stuff\' that I will have to unload before going on track.
I\'ll bring my temp storage facility \'aka\' one man tent to put stuff in, happy to share if anyone wants to store their stuff also.
Chris
Mir, very sorry to hear you might not be able to make it. I was really looking forward to seeing (and hearing) your car on track!
Even if you do not go on track, will you be attending Japfest in another car? The problem is that;
1. It may be too late to resell your place and
2. Even if, at this late stage, we can resell your place, your tracktime papers need to be passed to the person concerned. Even if you were to post them to Lisa or myself today, there is a chance we won\'t get them before we leave for Japfest. Plus, if there is still a faint chance your car might be ready, then you won\'t want to post the paperwork anyway.
If you are still going to the event, and if you arrive before 8am, then we can arrange for your track papers to be transferred, if we have a taker.

That\'s a good idea, I\'ll put my one man tent in the boot too. I\'m booked onto the RX8OC stand so I can offer the same facility over there.
I understand the gates are normally open sometime between 6.30 and 7.00am, before the public are allowed in at 9am. So, it looks like I\'ll have to forego breakfast at the B&B, but I think the lady I spoke to there said she might be able to pack something to take away if I ask the night before.....

Briefing Time 12:20
Track Time:13:48
If anyone can no longer attend the track sessions that they have paid for as above, please let me or Lisa know as soon as possible as we may be able to reallocate your place.
IMPORTANT (PLAN B ;))- FOR THOSE IN THE 9.00am SESSION As pointed out by Ian.M, I guess most of us will need to disgorge some gear from our cars before going on track. I would therefore urge everyone in this slot to arrive asap at the circuit (I believe gates open by 7am for cars on stands, from 9am for the public). Have your MRC (or RX8OC) standpass in the window and proceed directly to the club stand area. CJR and I will each have a one man tent available to store any gear, first come first served (bring your own tent if you have one). As most of the traffic will then be "against us" to get back to the track, I suspect our best plan is to then proceed asap to the soundcheck and pitlane queuing area. If open, get a soundcheck done then park up in the pitlane queue (if running the same system as last year), let the marshalls then know you are going to sign on and attend the briefing at 8.10am. By the time that is finished it\'ll not be long before they\'ll want our cars in the pitlane queuing to go out at 9am.
That\'s my advice, but again, we\'ll have to "wing it" on the day ;)
Plan B sounds good to me.
Although Im not sure if the marshals will let us park in the pit lane queue while we attend the briefing... I think Clive nearly got his car towed away doing that last year!
Having said that as we are the first group out, then it makes sense - lets see if the marshals agree on the day.

That\'s exactly my thinking, we are the first group out, so we won\'t be blocking anyone and it\'s in their favour to see we are all lined up to go out as soon as they are ready (and start the track schedule on time) - but will they see it that way...............;)

You should all have recieved your track "pack" in the post from Lisa by now, containing your tracktime instructions and Windscreen "TT" pass. You shouldn\'t need the "TT" pass if you already have a club stand pass.
The MRC track times as shown below. I have also shown the RX-8 Track Sessions for those of you that are in all four sessions.

If anyone can no longer attend the track sessions that they have paid for as above, please let me or Lisa know as soon as possible as we may be able to reallocate your place.
IMPORTANT (PLAN B )- FOR THOSE IN THE 9.00am SESSION As pointed out by Ian.M, I guess most of us will need to disgorge some gear from our cars before going on track.
I not going to get there by 7am :( & it will be more like 7.30am !!
Quote from: GreySilver Beast;822686I not going to get there by 7am :( & it will be more like 7.30am !!
7.30am should be fine - but remember to allow time for possible traffic queues at the entry gate. If you don\'t get to the stand by ~7.45am then I can foresee problems with driving the car back to the pit area "against the flow" of incoming cars, plus getting to the 8.10am briefing (no briefing=no track). We can probably sign on after the briefing if time is tight, but there were long queues last year so my plan was to sign on at 8am, or even earlier, to get this out of the way.
Well I am getting a little excited now... Still have things to do but I can\'t wait for 4 track seasions.
Any better idea of the weather yet? It seems like whatever site I look at its different
Me too.
Managed to finish the design and manufacture of a bespoke rear diffuser for the FD. Fitted it last night during the \'biggest\' down pour that lasted the whole two and a half hours I was laid on the drive !!
I\'ll post up some pictures later in the Third Gen section.

You will be fine.
Just do what the rest of us do, which is enjoy the event. There is no direct competing, just whizzing round the track with other Rotary\'s.
^^^:Thumbs-up Kodiak, nice to have you on the track team!
Yep, all good advice, just go round at the pace you are personally happy with and enjoy yourself. We\'re showcasing the cars and having fun, not racing, so don\'t worry! The safety briefing will cover all the etiquette whilst on track.
Given how fast I\'ve seen T2\'s go on track I wouldn\'t worry anyway! Jim (lennycarloff) is out there in his T2 to keep you company too!

BBC shows dry all day, sunny intervals about 13 degrees - don\'t forget your suntan lotion - no lobsters on Sunday please :Laugh
NOTE that, due to car technical issues forcing withdrawal, there are currently TWO places available on the 9am session and ONE place on the noon session. If you turn up in time to pick up the tracktime passes from Lisa and attend the safety briefing then it\'s not too late to show your car on track at JF! You will need to pay the £30/£20 (Member/non-Member) fee to via the shop or to Lisa on the day.
Best PM Lisa and I asap if you want to take up this option.
Hope that\'s not technical says with your car Malcolm
^^^ :D Don\'t know yet, my car hasn\'t been started since the North Weald Autosolo, nearly 4 weeks ago. Been trying to find time to get out to the garage all day, but it looks like it will be this evening before I get a chance to check her over! She\'s better be OK as I\'ve coughed up for the insurance at REIS this morning!
Howuch was your Insurence out of interest?
I\'m off to load the car up ready for the set off tomorrow !

^^REIS charged me £73 for 4 sessions, £5000 cover with £500 excess. This turns out to be their minimum fee, so wouldn\'t probably cost more for higher value cover (but the excess stays at 10%).

I have been quoted £104 odd for my 8 with a £9k value (would rather over insure it and there are some expensive parts on there) and the usual 10% excess
That was about the rate we were paying before we had our sportscar policy through Reis. @ aston
Yeah... Still it\'s a little annoying their policies vary in price so much...
Have just Insured with REIS for £147.50 :)
Malcolm if you get another Session, may be interested,as am insured for the whole day :(
If anyone with the now available slots wants to sell their track pass to me, I\'ll be there in the morning, if I can blag myself in early without one. If not, I got my track day helmet and will be hustling for passenger laps :3gears-rh
You may be able to have mine Vashy unless someone has a spare thermostat that they can drop off to me in the morning on their way past Swindon?
The car passed it\'s MOT but upon getting home I noticed it was still leaking coolant. I\'ve investigated to find that it was "heath-robinson\'d" and that the thermostat seal is knackered :(
Looks like I\'ll be attending in the Mazda2

A belated big thankyou to everyone who made it out on track. It was a fun experience for me out there, so I hope everyone esle had a good time with me. It was a real shame about Sicknote\'s "off" at Tower, but at least he and his passenger walked away unhurt and the car, I\'m sure, will be back soon.
Sorry to those of you who struggled with queues to get into the event, and to move your car from the stand to the paddock area. This was quite stressful and time consuming and spoilt the experince of the day somewhat. It also meant I wasn\'t able to seek everyone out to have a chat, so apologies if we didn\'t get to meet during the day.
As a result of this, both Lisa and I emailed the organisers to feedback our experience and we have received this reply from Kevin Stoddart of Future Publishing, the organisers;
Hi
Thank you for raising your concerns about your day at Japfest with us.
Firstly, we would like to apologise that you found it a struggle to get your cars on track form the position you were based in and since your comments we would not position a club with track time here again.
The movement of vehicles within the site is something we do not take lightly but it is a risk anywhere in the circuit due to the nature of the event. We did employ a strategy this year to place all clubs with track time at Camp Corner where they could access the noise testing and assembly area easily. However, this area filled up quickly and since your club and the RX8OC booked so early, we employed the 1st come 1st served policy to give you a better position in the event (the position that was requested by the RX8 OC)
We do have a track time parking area especially for drivers who have track time sessions close together where they can park their cars in between sessions; this is detailed clearly on the map in the show guide so you could have parked up in this area.
Hopefully this clarifies the reasons for your positioning but your comments have been duly noted and we can assure you this won’t happen again
We hope this doesn’t put you off attending Japfest in future years
Kind regards,
Kevin Stoddart
The Japfest team
Re the statement;

I have emailed back to Kevin to state this WAS NOT the case on the day. Clive and I both asked numerous "officials" in the paddock area about provision for parking for tracktime cars with multiple sessions and we were CATEGORICALLY informed there was no such provision and we should return our cars to the club stand.
We can only hope that the organisers will learn form this year\'s event and make it even better next year. We will be reminding them of the negative aspects of the day next year, should we decide to run tracktime again.
However, taking the day as a whole, I thoroughly enjoyed my overall experience at Japfest this year.
Hi Malcolm, I think I just got lucky on the day (if you leave out the obvious), I took your advice to go direct to the pit area
and was advised to go past the noise test area, out the back gate and turn left where the park area was marked for track
time cars, it made life really easy. But they can\'t park ANY club with track time all the way over where we were coz
it\'s sooo narrow to get cars through among the crowds it was just time consuming and dangerous, lets hope they
get it right next year but I\'m not convinced as they\'ve now done it for 10 years and still not sorted the problems.
Dave
PS: still sorry about arsing up peoples track time
PPS: Some of you will know this but my Series 1 RS Turbo was stolen on Friday morning B950 ABW, I\'ve put it all over
