Title: Oil Pressure
Post by: Vantage600 on June 28, 2004, 09:12:12 AM
Can anybody set my mind at rest? I\'ve recently bought a 1994 RII and being new to rotaries, I\'m not sure whether to be concerned or not.  When the engine gets upto temperature the oil pressure at Idle is almost zero!! Is this normal? I\'m guessing/hoping that it is supposed to be like this for emissions, due to pressure feed apex seals!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Cheers,
Phil

Its probably just a dodgy gauge like most of them seem to be!

Are they often a problem then? Do you know if they are mechanical or electrical? If they\'re electrical is it usally the sender that is the problem, or will I have to take my dash apart?

Mine\'s the same. The sender (electrical) seems to be in a place where it gets gummed up almost instantly :(
when cold my gauge reads 5bar at idle, it will then drop instantly to zero when it gets warm. When the engine\'s revved over 3k it will pick back up again then suddenly drop again for no reason.
things got better after an oil change and a 250mile thrash but not much :D

Normally should be around 70oC  - 90oC
