Title: Aeromotive A1000 Fuel Pump
Post by: Mir on November 03, 2011, 11:50:06 AM
Hi Guys

I am having problem with fuel system. Pip has clearly told me that we need to upgrade the fuel system. I spoke with well-known tuners and they all advised that instead of having two in-tank Bosch 044s, I should buy the above kit and that would sort all the problem out.

I believe in buying best things because I like to buy them once:King

Looking for thoughts and opinion guys!

Cheers :Ladys-man

Well the car is making 520 BHP at 6500 RPM at 0.7 Bar a Boost. The Rotors are modified to take up to 9000 RPM. At 520hp, the Motor leans out to 14.5. WHICH IS VERY LEAN.

I hope the above info will help!

Cheers

For your situation I would contact aeromotive themselves and tell them your your setup, ignition fuelling engine turbo and HP goals and they will advise you on what you need. As money is probably not  necessarily an issue for you syed then that would be the best thing to do.

Kev with his 20B twin turbo Cosmo has got a fuel system setup that can have any fuel put into it without worrying about problems. He wanted the best and a fit and forget system. I suggest you do the same.

20B turbo FTW!!!!

syed, what do you think the advantages will be with this pump?....and how many will you need?

syed, just looked up this pump....feeds the same as two 044 pumps. (600 lph at 43.5 psi)....so why spend the money...on something that you dont really need in terms of pump power.

Have you checked your injectors?....what duty were they running at when you were going lean?...

have you fitted the twin pumps in your current setup?

Kev is running a aeromotive fuel pump as grant says and he has it running on e85 fuel so 1/3 more fuel required and 6 injectors so what model hes using is well up to the job.
His 20b twin gt45 is a Peripheral port as well so about as thirsty as they get.

Ed to be honest didn\'t check the injector duty cycle :( but I know, the injectors are sufficient for about 800hp!

The main advantage is "I don\'t have to look for a Twin 044 Pump Cradle" because lucky people like you already have it lollll :D :D :) and I don\'t :( loll

Steve, thanks for the info!

I am aslo thinking of buying Feed Intake fuel collector, that\'s if I decided to go twin 044 in tank!

Arrgg why life is not so easy when it comes to making decisions!!!

good choice on the intank solution...to help with starvation:Giggle

The reason i ask the question about the injectoers is what makes you think your injectors are flowing sufficiently?......what injectoers are you running?....how long have you had the pump?.....last time fuel filter was checked?.....what size lines are you running to the fuel rail?

are the twin bosch pumps fitted or is it just running the one atm?

sorry for the questions...just wanna make sure you isolate the problem before you go buying a £500 fuel pump.....only to stop at the same hurdle:2eek:2Rolleyes

I would hope that syed has changed the
Fuel lines for something the size of an8 lines and
Fittings? Using the old crappy lines is a disaster waiting to happen. :( especially with 1,000hp in mind.

Syed with that pump I would think it can pump methanol safely and in enough quantity so it\'s a good choice, however check other things
First to save some pennies here and there

Ed, I am having a combination of -6 and -8 lines and I am also using earls fittings. I have  3x1680s and 3x850s they are high impedence. The fuel pump is brand new and only 6 months old. Fuel filter was checked 2 years ago, but then my car has always been a garage queen so the time does not matter really! I am still runing one intank 044 pump.

So what\'s your verdict on that? As always you have been very helpful.

Thanks Carl for responding
Grant cheers for the info

Ed gets 5 lines of response and me and Carl get 4 and 5 words?!

That\'s not fair at all. Lol

like i said you really need to isolate the problem...tbh...an o44 pump wouldnt run out of puff at 520hp....so already you should know your issue is elsewhere.

The 850 are no doubt used items...they may possibly be blocked.

1.9 bar?! Is pip willing to go that high? If so can I come and watch through the window of doom? (the dyno room window)

I don\'t think so!!! But he needs to be compelled before he goes that high!!! In reality it\'s not possible to compel him, but there is no harm in trying :D

I had this option , I had two walbros in tank but needed more and did not like relying on two pumps , if one fails do could the motor !! I went for a Areomotive A1800 with filters , it was lots of money but it\'s future proof and if it fails the car stops. I ran -18 ( I think ) feed and -12 out to the rail

Dear Lord ! Now that is proper feed. At maximum throttle how many l/min does the twin turbo V8 run at to need such a massive line !

Unless you have very small hands :Giggle

Actually they\'re even bigger.  Each engine uses 30 gallons a minute at full power.

That pipe is the feed from the bottom of the tank to the pump then to a aeromotive fpr mounted on the rear subframe , return in -10 to the top off the tank and one -12 forward , I used that size pipe as it is the same ( slightly bigger) as the fuel pump input hole . It might be over kill but don\'t want to have to redo it again or run the motor weak , one of the twin turbo monaros I did the headers for ran out of fuel at 980bhp on two 044s , and it\'s got smaller blowers  heads and cam than mine , and it always worried me if one pump goes weak !. As with most upgrades need good power to the pump nice wires via relay to battery in boot ,

Is there not enough room for a mechanical pump if its in a pull configuration ??
