I have recently started the engine on my 94 fd3s and the engine was running fine. changed both belts and when i had to get to a leaky coolant pipe i took the power steering belt on and now its squealing like a :censored::censored::censored::censored::censored:!
I think i can see its either the power steering pulley or the tensioner cos as soon as i released the tensioner off loads it quietened.but it still can be heard and the belt is quite loose.
so new belt or tensioner or both?
Would be the tensioner. Power steering pulley is splined and has no bearing, tensioner has a bearing that commonly goes and makes a lot of noise.
I\'ve got the same problem and am now changing the bearing on the tensioner pulley. Have already changed the PS pump - that made absolutely no difference.

Right. Changed the bearing, refitted the pulley to correct tension and tightened the retaining nut as per workshop manual instructions. And now the belt is squealing worse than before.
Any advice or suggestions gratefully received :Thumbs-up
The tensioner bolts were squeeling on mine. I liberally sprayed them with some teflon lubricant and the noise went away for about 4 months. Just make sure you do not lubricate any parts that make contact with the belt. I used teflon lubricant as I thought it would last longer than grease but there must be something better out there.
