Just thought you\'d like an update on my FD which hasn\'t been out and about for a few weeks now. It\'s nearly completed and should be ready Sat 3rd July!! I can\'t wait it\'s been ages since I\'ve driven it!!
It\'s having the following additions:
Feed version 2 front nose
Feed Carbon Fiber front canards
Scoot bonnet
R-magic side-skirts refurbished
Auto-Exe rear GT wing
RE Amemiya rear diffuser
Bilstein coilovers - Arches rolled to get the car real low!
Rays Gram Lights 57 F-Pro 18" (10" rear and 9" front)
Full interior re-colouring in black with rainbow metallic
Heres some shots of the outside taken today - although I didn\'t see the large bird that poo\'d all over it!:rollin
Cheers
Ben

Rear
That bird is called the Wet and Dry paperbird I think.
If it turns out like miguels, dumped with those rims.
Like my artists impression.
Wow! cant wait for the real version.
Should be fantastic!!!!
Wow. That\'s a whole lot of \'if only\' parts you\'ve got going on there, Ben! Quick (newbie) question...what\'s rainbow metallic with regards interior trim? The dash and things??
But have to agree - car will look fantastic, think Russ hit the nail on the head with his artistic rendering er impression! :D
Cheers Russ for the Photoshop!
I did some photoshops myself with vinyl graphics I\'m hoping to put up the sides, Yep it will look similar to Miguels look! All be it with some nice chunky skirts and rims!
FDdreamer, the interior parts I covered in rainbow metallic are basically all the hard plastic parts i.e. all the boot panels, rear speaker panels, bins and a few other bits around the dash.
The dash, door strips and top cover of the dash all have carbon fiber effect covering (mazdaseed kit and my own stuff). Then I\'ve got 2 x Carbon backed black Recaros with momo Race s/wheel, shifter and handbrake (with gaiters)!
Also got some Razo Competition pedals on order so it\'s a bit easier for heel and toe!! (Also don\'t have to bother bending the accelarator pedel)!
I can\'t wait!!:D
Cheers
Ben
Vinyls will be something along these lines, although I\'ve got some other new Japanese sponsor logos which I\'m going to add to it too!
Cheers
Ben
P.S. Sorry Miguel been nicking ya pics again!!
Man alive it gets better by the minute!! Can\'t wait to see the finished product - the interior now sounds equally amazing as the rest of the car! Nice job on the graphics by the way!
Seems like you\'ve spent a long time planning all this out, then put together the ultimate FD buy adopting a no-compromise attitude with regards cost and hard work! Roll on July 7th! :D
Ben,
Do you want to bring it along for the display at the next D1 round, 17th July.
Oh you do :p Excellent :D
I guess it\'s a compliment to have my car copied!! I\'ll be interested to see the result in the end.
Maybe be careful about painting PVC interior plastics... The paint won\'t be likely to bond well and may peel, chip easily, etc.
I\'ve been doing more stuff underneath and in the engine bay... Notably custom built suspension struts, Stillway Oil coolers and a few other tweaks...
Russ of Re-Extreme....He\'s been in the car on a few laps of the C1 recently. I don\'t think he\'d ever been in an FD that handled so well..! :D :D
We were out in it again last night and nothing would beat it. It\'s seeeeriously well sorted now ;)
Here\'s a few pics of it taken earlier today.
I got rid of my FEED front and cannards.. I didn\'t like the huge amount of stone chips the car would get from street racing...
It\'s much better with the Polyeurethane original 1999+ front now.
When filming live racing, we can get really agressive and close, yet still be able to avoid peppering from stone chips :D
The titanium "Signal" exhaust is much better sounding than the oil Shotgun style\'d setup.
Another pic attached.
looks great Miguel, glad to see you are still improving it.
How do you fair against the highly modded GTRs?
Miguel,
how many sets of alloys you got? Ive seen RE-Amemiya, BBS and now Mazdaspeed!!
Car looks, as always, great!
Good question! Are there any other threats besides the \'Liners? Big BHP supras/NSXs with forced induction?
Whereabouts do you tend to give it some stick, Miguel? Mainly on C1 or do you venture into Shinkanjyo/wangan line/yokohane? Think the spellings are roughly right, but not too sure?!
Must be fantastic living there in the middle of such a culture and ethos surrounding racing life.
Beautiful car, by the way...just seems to be constantly evolving! Anywhere we can see some more pics Miguel? Hoping that it features heavily in the DVD i\'ve just ordered from you guys!! :D
I\'ve got the Mazdaspeeds as they\'re super light and with 17" I can get super sticky Bridgestone Potenza RE55S\'s on...
Still have the BBS LM\'s with Yokohama street tyres on the back and cut slicks on the front, but enjoying the grip of these SR rated tyres for which the struts were set up.
It will out corner pretty much anything we\'ve found yet, including R32\'s - though no doubt something faster will eventually surface..
We out cornered an R34 with lots of mods on a lap of the C1, plus the weekend before took a very agressively driven R32 GT-R.. .er, never mind the T78 Top Fuel prepared and stripped out FC.. Our\'s was faster on corners too - he also had S Type tyres.
Lat night we had a good race with a completely stripped out black Sylvia S15 complete with welded in roll cage wide arches, massive intercooler, SR rated tyres - basically a race car, about 3.30am. Was a good match - we preferred to let any challenging car lead as we had the video camera in place...
Was an interesting race. A red RX-7 joined in towards the end (His friend, we think) but I thought he wasn\'t reading the road ahead too well and driving a bit erratically and not showing a lot of skill behind the wheel, rather using his car\'s ability - so we held back and gave them some space...RX-7 leading - very fast.
The RX-7 went into a blind corner very, very fast with the Sylvia following closely behind... We stayed back, as going in at that speed seemed dangerous to me...
He lost the back end - clipped an SiR Civic.. As we came around the corner we saw the sylvia braking hard, a spray of plastic and saw the RX-7 hit the armco head on at about 50 mph.. Completely bent the car - driver was hurt with a broken leg. Felt really gutted to see this. Was a really nice 1999 RX-7 and a seriously well sorted one at that. The transmission tunnel was completely bent to give some idea...
Street racing is great in Tokyo, but I\'ve never seen an accident as bad as that. Have been thinking of the guy today and hoping he\'s okay. He\'s probably in a hospital in pain, his RX-7 totally ruined...Luckily nobody else was hurt. The Civic guy (Also a street racer) was very good about it.
The Wangan is boring, as are the others... Mostly straight line speed.
I prefer corners and mobile chicanes (Taxis)!
I haven\'t posted any pics of it anywhere recently. These are the first since some recent changes.. It does feature on the DVD - quite a bit of course...
...But there\'s a much better DVD in the making... Camera crw arrives 8th July for 10 days of filming and we have loads of interesting stuff already filmed too...
Anyway, best say no more, as I think I\'m hyjacking this thread otherwise...shhhh!
Thanks for ya pics Miguel, looks like I\'ll have to swap the Feed front end now eh!!;)
Nice insight into the Tokyo scene at presenet - although I do feel for the guy whose FD got written off.
Now I\'ve spent a fair bit on looks I\'m going for the performance upgrades, so a V-mount will be on the cards next after all!! Like yourself I see the stock twins are more than enough on the bends with the right suspension setup. Going to look into the car braces and sway bars now.
Hope to see your new DVD aswell - when do you expect it to be released?
Thanks for the tip about the interior plastic, I found that out when I originally went for it as anything you put on it will break down over the years. It\'s most important to remove as much of the silicon build up as possible otherwise the paint just chips away.
Hi Lee, yeah would be cool to get the rex down at the D1 day - I\'ll check out the details.
Cheers
Ben
I see! I wouldn\'t know, never been to Japan...just picked up some names from various websites etc.
Looking forward to seeing the new DVD too...and i haven\'t yet seen the \'old\' one! Only just set up a paypal a/c yesterday!
Sorry to hear about the accident...at least no-one was really seriously hurt. And good call on the blind corner! Thanks too, as Ben said, for the insight. Sounds incredible (if a little dangerous!).
Yeah, I can imagine things getting close at times but I know people who have crashed here doing a bit of street racing.
Hows this for close...
Download me :) (http://members.iinet.net.au/~pdawson/close.mpg)
Lee
Damn that was sooo tight - not to mention downright mental!!
Cheers
Ben
I can vouch first hand for the ability of Miguel\'s FD to blow away cars.
cornering ability is absolutly mad for a street car.
and ride does not suffer.
C1 is amazing but you have to know where your going.
GTR.. Tough in a straight line but close right in under corners.
;)
I won\'t be buying anything else.
A set of bilsteins and S-(sticky tires) will do.
Ben, As for your car. It\'s now original.
And will look MAD!
Cheers Rextreme!
What\'s best to go for - new rear strut brace (to replace the original one) or go for a rear roll cage?
Also any recommendations for sway bars and car braces? I\'m having my bilsteins uprated to coilovers and have 400lbs front and 350lbs rear springs (I think it\'s that way)? This sound right?
