Title: Irratic Tacho
Post by: Gerry M on June 26, 2004, 10:03:05 AM
HI all

Sometimes when I\'m driving my tacho pings round to 9 or 10k while I\'m only doing 3 or so, is this a common fault & anyone know how to sort it?

Cheers

Hi

I had a similar problem, found it to be two things on mine,

Firstly
When you remove the dials from the car the tacho is held in by three screws, I had a dodgy connection on one of these screws when tightned it improved but I then tried a new tacho and that totaly solved the problem.
To be fair my tacho was way out all over the show never showed an acurate reading ( went less jumpy when I tighted the screws. if its only jumping now and again I would suggest checking the screws that hold it in place and check for a good ground.

I got my tacho second hand for 40 quid from the group, you could also get an after market tacho from Halfords for 50,

Hope that helps

Cheers
