hi guys,
just wondering where abouts it should really sit tbh??
light pootling around, it barely shows.... bit of a blast shows about a 1/4.... and on motorway shows anywhere between 2/3\'s and half!
this sound normal??
cheers
Yeah. It\'s utterly whack. The knock sensor is just a little placcy microphone and is legendarily shatulatory on the FD (assuming that\'s what you have). It tunes into all sorts of frequencies like road noise, exhaust resonance, etc, and interprets it as knock. Just get your tuner to dial out the sensitivity and ignore it.
If it knocks anyway it\'ll let you know by blowing apex seals out through the exhaust and/or turbo, which is a lot easier to interpret than a silly little bar graph on a Commander. Mine got up to over 200 once, which would clearly have blown the car to the moon were it true

hahaha! nice! :D lol
cheers for that, was just a little unclear on the actual functioning on it! mind at ease again!
i do love my FD! on days like today, when i drive it to work once in a blue moon, 100 ,iles and never misses a beat, killing off jags! :D lol
Mine reguarly floats around 30, highest i have seen is same as Nik at 200ish after a third gear WOT(Wide Open Throttle) from about 2000rpm on the motorways. Think it reached 180ish on the dyno and they didnt wanna run it after that :D lol
The knock sensor is often way out due to their age by now so as along as it\'s running well and not hesitating the readings don\'t mean alot.
Regards
Carl
