Hi all.
Having a bit if a mare, have a Blitz FMIC and a Radtec Race rad and since i moved the rad to a vertical position i\'m having trouble bleeding the water system.
At the moment i have a 2lt coke bottle with the top wrapped with black tape to make a seal to the engine filler cap and the bottom cut off so i can fill it half way up and watch for bubbles. This works ok but only half my rad is getting hot and the bubbles just keep coming.....
I am assuming the water just takes the easiest route round the rad but i just don\'t get why its air locked so bad? it did used to be a bit of a pain when it was in the stock position just this is crazy.
Any ideas? or should i just keep messing with it until the bubbles stop coming out?
O also i relies it does sound a bit like water seals but it was spot on before i took the rad out and moved it also the air coming up from the bubbles doesn\'t have any scent to it (don\'t smell of fuel or exhaust) so if it is water seals it would be a massive coincidence.
have you still got the little annoying Hose From Hell that goes to the back of the plenum/TB for the wax pellet warm-up nonsense? It\'s often recommended to fill the system with that hose off until the water comes out of it. Then let it get nice and hot with your DIY expansion bottle on the filler neck until the thermostat opens and "burps" the rest of the air out that way.
I have just been out to it and pulled the upper Throttle body coolant hose off and there appears to be plenty of water there. I filled my coke bottle up so there was water rushing out of both sides of that pipe when i reconnected it.
Just don\'t get why only the raised section at the top of the rad gets quite hot while the other side is barely warm....
I seem to have another problem too, my coolant buzzer has stopped working and there is no low level light coming on either?? :(
Coolant buzzer is a single wire to earth. If it breaks, the default is for the buzzer to sound (bitter experience). Odd for it to pack up, mine wouldn\'t break even after an hour and a half off solid sounding! Are you sure it\'s just not actually submerged?
I took the sensor out and swapped it for one i knew was working from another car with no joy but this sensor worked in the other car.
Whats odd is i\'m sure the Buzzer went off and a light came on? but now nothing happens. I have been doing a bit of reading up and its usaly the other way round where you can\'t shut it up so i\'m thinking it may be dry solder on the Clocks?
Really odd, today i turned the ignition on then unplugged the Buzzer wire like i have been doing for the last few days and few seconds go by and the buzzer went off? tried it a few times including dropping the water level below the sensor level and it all works again???? Maybe just a bad connection but i hate it when things just start working on there own because you never know if there is a Fault there just waiting to take a big bite out of your bank balance.
