Title: Rain Cover for a convertible
Post by: grinder on September 29, 2011, 12:56:25 PM
Hiya chaps

Ages ago someone was selling a rain cover for a convertible ( like my shower curtain but a proper mazda one ! )

I cant find it anywhere in the forum to see if i can buy another , so the next plan came to mind

get one made :D

Now just putting the feelers out really , if i can get a cover made that clips onto the tenax studs on the rear , over the roof and fastens around the wing mirrors would any one be interested ?

basically is should stop ANY leaks your roof has , and also protect the roof from the elements

Im currently in talks with a few companies to get a price and to see how they would make it

thing is , the first one might cost loads , but once a working template is made up - the others should be a lot cheaper

just wondering if any of you cab owners would be interested in this , or is it just me ?

Have a think , let me know if you would want one and importantly , what you think it would be worth

i know a roof comes in at about £400 for a new one , so im my eyes it has to be hell of a lot cheaper than that

i reckon i MIGHT bebale to get them around the £100 mark , thats for a custom cover that should last about 10 years

like i said , have a think and let me know

i KNOW !!!!!!!!!!

if i could get it for £50 we would all be laughing

to be honest , the material will be about £30 , so no way someone will spend the time for £20 to make it

shocking eh :( !! LOL

I\'d be interested - as long as it was made out of something durable and longliving - not plastic as the stuff in the atmosphere near us makes all plastics brittle in no time.:2eek

one company is suggesting using what boat sails are made out of - so lightweight and 100% water proof

the other makes covers for barges etc.. - so not sure what that will be made of ?

trying to work out who is best and which has the better price

Hey

I ment to post this last week, but in my local parts place they have a roof cover, it\'s called the "auto 1 car top cover"... Had a quick look on google and couldn\'t find it, but it was only about 20 quid!!! Worth checking out??

and why is that ??

if that cause in the blinding heat of summer you can drive in your tin box that doubles as an oven ;)

Of you can drop the roof and enjoy that lovely heat

he he he he

Although .. even with my coupe - it used to leak around the sunroof .. im sure that FC\'s were not built water tight ;)
