Ok, im going to own up, i\'m getting old and do not want a LOUD car.
I\'d like to keep the kaki rear \'box\' so the only way of quietening the exhaust would be a mid-silencer.
I think idle was about 98bd (measured with iphone app). What size mid-silencer to go for?
long and thin or short and fat?
is there a rough ratio of how big the silencer is and how much it quietens the car by?
Or anyone got any proven experience with similar thing?
Also any ideas on prices?
Thanks :)
Im not sure mate but I am interested in the answer as mine is on the edge when it comes to track days. 103-105db with the bungs in 113db without. Thats at 4000rpm or so.
Ade
I have a large 3" straight through RB midbox on mine :)
Liam,
Our systems run at about 93-95db
Super quiet, but give great power! :)
Come over I have a car in the workshop and you can see and hear what its like
The Racing Beat mid box is excellent for keeping things quiet.
I have a stupid mid silencer box on it at the mo -short and skinny - and it does nothing for keeping the noise down.
jon, any pics and prices just for the mid section (to replace where the cat should go) so i can comparethemeerkat.com
is it a bolt on job or needs fabricating?
also the 93-95db, is that at idle or 3/4 throttle(?) how circuits test noise level?
thinking about it, would prefer something quiet so have the option to go on track days.
cheers
I dont have any pictures here. We do have a number of people on here that have taken the systems. Trotter is one of them.
They are repackable so if they start to become noisy it is a quick and easy job to quieten down again. They are made from a very good quality stainless and come with a life time warranty....so should be the last exhaust you ever buy :)
The midpipe is £450+VAT (£540) and the back box is £480+VAT (£576) A little more expensive than some of the other systems, but if you are planning on keeping the car, it will pay for itself over a couple of years. Plus you shouldnt get turned away from any tracks!!
what about dropping by your local bespoke exhaust place and getting another silencer slotted in. won\'t cost more than a hundy i reckon
Biiiiig midbox :D

20cm wide? oval or round?
how long is it too? standard cat length? and how quiet? :Giggle
Well you can see my shoe lol its oval to be able to fit under the car :P 3" straight through :) not really had a loud exhaust on the car, the silencers I have on the car are: turbo, 3" RB midbox, 2 x custom stubby cans. I would say that the noise is noticable, but doesn\'t drone on motorways etc (well it did for the first 200 miles until the packing bedded in lol went almost deaf!)
