Title: FC3S assistance please
Post by: Cooch on September 26, 2011, 07:17:09 PM
Use to own an FD Efini about a year ago but sold it when me and my girlfriend brought our house. Brought a 306 Rallye as I need a car for work everyday but now it\'s possible I maybe working closer to home. I\'m getting the itch for something Jap but don\'t have the disposable income to splash out on an FD as I\'d want to do it properly, so u thought maybe I could scratchy itch with a sweet looking little FC egi.

Here lies the proposed question, does anyone in the essex area have an FC3S egi I could take a gander at because all I\'m doing is looking at pics at the moment and before I commit to selling my Pug I\'d like to see if I like them up close and personal. The car doesn\'t have to be for sale I\'m just looking for an opportunity to take a closer look and have a chat with an FC owner.

So if youve got an FC and are willing to help me out with my strange request please let me know. Thanks

James.

I\'ve you been used to the speed of a 306 Rallye which correct me if i\'m wrong has the mi16 engine with the 5 speed box right? You\'ll need the turbo i think, i always thought my egi \'felt slow\' compared to hot hatches. This is my personal opinion, but i reccomend you take a look at Skiffy\'s EGI and see how it feels  to you they are still great cars :)

It\'s not the m16 lump, it\'s just a 2.0 16v with a 6 speed. There 170bhp stock but mines been chipped so it\'s nearer 190. I know what you mean but I\'m more into looks than speed (I say that now, ha ha) and I\'ve been gutted ever since i sold my FD and I\'m aching for something Jap now.

Thanks for the offer Skiffy. I\'ll let you know as I nee to sort some free time.

something about the s4 egi\'s is just amazing, i can\'t place it. All I remember was that mine was the best car I\'ve ever owned. Make sure you get one with all the right exhaust mods though.

Saying that, if you want a bit more power i\'d really suggest a turbo, completely different animal to the egi and they\'re better on fuel too!

What exhaust mods? You mean just an uprated exhaust so it makes all the right noises?

I\'m not after more power than my pug, just want to get back in something Jap and I thought It would be rude not to go back to another rotary. And I love the look of the S4 Fc\'s

How bad are the egi\'s on fuel then? I currently get just over 300 miles to £70-75 and that\'s driving it nice.

I can get around 300 miles of motorway driving on a full tank which is around the £75 mark, the exhaust mods are mainly removing the air pump, updating the headers and getting a nice free flowing exhaust system.

The EGi\'s are around 160 stock, my last one was 166.7, not sure what this one is, so you probably won\'t go as fast but you certainly will go with more style lol

Egi\'s generally are awful, but thats really down to the state of the engine and the mods its running.

For the exhaust you want the air pump removed which some people have run into problems with, if you can find one thats already done that\'d be a huge bonus. Generally you just need some sort of blanking plate i believe. Then you want the baffles from the engine removed and a proper aftermarket header fitted. Don\'t bother with a proper dual system as it wont be too good for torque. after that its up to you. They don\'t have cats, instead they have a thermal reactor but that\'ll be ditched with the air pump. I used to run TII stock back boxes with everything else done and it was great, if you run a jap can it will be very very loud.

s4\'s are 140 stock, s5\'s are 160ish though you don\'t get the S5 n/a\'s in england. With a good engine and breather mods you should be able to see 160-170
