Title: Thought I\'d introduce myself
Post by: Attley on September 22, 2011, 02:10:54 PM
hiya, been signed up on here for a while now, alot of helpful/usefull info obtained off threads on this site. Posted on rx7club.com last night an was asked if I\'m on here so thought I\'d formally introduce myself an my fc.

Anyway, im Duane, from the uk, swapped my old r32 skyline gts for my fc vert tII last november and looked like this:

after getting used to driving and enjoying it, i started fixing little problems that it had and fitting a few new parts to make it my own.

I fitted a Sard top intake stage 3 induction, sard blow off valve, magnecor leads and sard rad cap/ARC oil cap

installed a :censored::censored::censored::censored:pit kani stage 1 ecu

also installed my dvd headunit (for comfort as its my daily driver for work), carbing gear knob and deep dish style wheel

and an apexi avcr (sorry about the poor quality pics)

I have also fitted a stage 3 clutch as the exedy oem started to slip (which i then discovered the old pressure plate was welded to my flywheel as the flywheel was cracked/damaged) so replaced with a oem flywheel for now until i can afford a lightened one. I also made a bit of a mistake, my exhaust had been blowing since i had the car so took it to a friend who fabricates exhausts, as the old system was a 3" pipe with a backbox i thought i\'d just get a like for like, however i decided to go for a 3" straight pipe from cat back and is now rediculously loud, so silencer is on the cards i think. As of now it sits like this, on 18x8.5 + 18x9.5 work emitz (i know your not fans of stretched tyres)

plans are to repair rear arches (rust) or perhaps over fenders, new un-ripped hood and basic maintaining until next year as our winters kicking in now. Full build thread can be found on my club site (//www.theorientacademy.co.uk)

thanks for looking!

Yeah I\'d love more poke on the front however i need front overfenders as the tyres scrape the arch on full lock already, I\'ll sort something though, as for plans I want rear overfenders as the rear arch are starting to rot, clean up the bodywork, new roof hood as there are 2 rips and soon hopefully I want a spare diff to weld up as I originally brought it to drift, but it handles too damn good to break traction an it\'s all or nothing atm.

Cheers for the comments guys

I think of you ran a bit if stretch you could get away without the wide arches. However if you wide arch it it\'ll look bad ass!!!

If you haven\'t already, just roll that inner lip flat on the front, should stop it scraping. Don\'t start pulling the arch out though, it\'s a bad idea!

I run 205\'s on 9J\'s and 225\'s on 9.5J\'s on mine, so we don\'t mind stretch mate, don\'t worry!

What side skirts are they btw? And aren\'t those wheels pretty heavy? I remember being told ages ago that they are...

Well the wheels are lighter than the 17" Desmond wise sports that were on it originally and I wouldn\'t say they were overly heavy tbh, I\'ve rolled the rear arches as the arch sat on the tyre, now there\'s a nice little flare on them. As for the fronts I\'ll have to try rolling the lip up and maybe get some 10mm spacers as they are slightly sunk, I\'ve got 225/45/18\'s all round atm

The exhaust is crazy loud, and seems to have lost power slightly. I would have thought it would have done the opposite as the old exhaust a a foot of 2.5" pipe before the 3" an a backbox. Booked in for a silencer now (as much as I love the sound it\'s not practical for driving back from work at 11pm 5 nights a week haha)

P.s if anyone is near the midlands area you should pop down to my clubs monthly meets as it would be nice to see more fc\'s as I never seem to see any on the road (don\'t mean to advertise my club btw, sorry if it\'s not aloud)

Fair play then, sounds all good to me! I noticed the rear roll, looks quite neat!

You\'re correct, you definitely shouldn\'t have lost power at all! Very strange. Any boost creep or anything?

Not noticeably, I can\'t understand why but it doesn\'t feel as powerful, am I correct in thinking that you don\'t need back pressure? As it is literally just the downpipe with cat on ato a 3" straight pipe out the back. The weird thing is that the old exhaust had about 6 holes in that it blowed from.
Only thing I did notice was after I change up gear and let off after boost, the engine jumps up 500 revs as soon as it drops to idle. I believe I have a vac leak somewhere too as it has an irratic idle when cold, but is fine and steady once warm

not everyone dislikes stretched tyres... they look good on the right wheels lol
