Title: Start ups.
Post by: RyanT on September 19, 2011, 08:19:24 AM
My rx7 fd is is a 8th gen and it can puff out quite a bit of White smoke on start up and sound a bit rough. After it\'s warmed up it\'s the smoothest car ever to drive sounds nice no smoke at all. I know compression is good at mid 8s all round. And it\'s just had a full service at Hayward.
Just wanted to check that white smoke is normal. Cheers guys

white smoke is normal if the car is cold.
but the outside temperature must be low. 10 13 degrees Celsius,
condensation occurs in the exhaust and this causes the white smoke. otherwise if you see white smoke when the engine is hot, begin to worry ;)

Thats great cheers mate. When it\'s warmed up it\'s like driving a new one, so can\'t complain there.

well, if the engine hesitation or jumps at low RPM when it is cold, check out the sparks. would be better to change all spark plugs and spark plug wires :D

When the engine is getting up to temp the injector duty cycle is higher than when warm, can cause popping etc in the exhaust, white smoke or blue smoke is ok on startup if its stone cold, when I had my 323f it was found that the exhaust system normally held about a pint of water which then evaporated, so I guess it would also depend on the exhaust system as well
