Post by: YAU730 on September 13, 2011, 11:47:46 AM
Am a new happy owner of a FD again, want to go thru some things in whats involved in looking after the car again? service oil and filter every 3000? what oil to use? its a stock fd but light mods like exhaust.

A full service? when? and things that\'s involved again?

Basically, everything u want to know for maintenance for your RX7....

Thanks in advance...

before we tell you.. u need to go through a club initiation.

1) moon another fd owner when they drive past
2) do a hand-stand
3) lick the inside of your exhaust.

need pics to prove :p

You dont have to change your oil every 3000 miles but a lot of people do. Use 10w40 mineral oil. If you car is standard and you\'re going to change it that often then the Halfords stuff is fine i find.
Gearbox and diff oils could be changed again every 20k miles.

Last owner had 10w/30, would it be ok to mix 10w/40 in it if it needs a wee top up? would need to change plugs every 4.5k yeah?
Also if coolent needs topped up what kind should i buy?

I considerred dastek, but I you should consider going to Pip at WGT. I know it\'s a trek, but the return journey will be worth it.

I had mine mapped by Mark at the Garage, and ex-user Robertio. The map was decent, but whilst getting a flashing heat lamp checked Pip remapped it and omg....what a difference

It\'s money well spent and a decent remap is absolutely necessary with the new exhaust and decat IMO

Am only thinking of going to Pip when engine gives up calling for a rebuild, if so then am thinking of Single turbo conversion with bridgeport, clutch, injectors etc..... just want a safe map now till it blows really hahaha.....

I got breakdown cover, was thinking take fuse our plug out and let them trailer it to WGT then get train up and drive back, i should be at Andy\'s if coolant arrives today.
