Title: Plug n play FC?
Post by: Andyp on June 24, 2004, 01:42:44 PM
Hello!

Just got back from having my decat fitted *hehe* that puts even more excitement in the drive! :D

Turns out my cat was nothing but molten rock ;(

Wanna put my power fc in now.. got decat on a kakimoto R and hks race induction as my mods.. is it a case of slipping the ECU out *do they just pull out* and pushing the FC in with the ignition off?

fanks!

A

Have ya got ya boost back now Andy?

Andy, I got kinda a manual boost controller fitted last time I went, Basically just a few valves to turn the boost up n down.

Boost seems to hit a steady 0.7 bar now, obviously with a bit of tweaking should hit 0.8 no probs. 2nd turbo was being a bit funny when I was trying it out earlier, still felt like something was holding it back when it got a bit over 0.6.. kinda felt a bit lazy, like it is when ya HT leads are crapped..  but saying that after a bit of a run I just had.. I planted it in 2nd gear and it seemed fine.. gonna have a good chance to try it on the run to germany hehe, keep tweaking it on fuel stops :)

I want to get the apexi in there now as I wanna keep an eye on everything... wanna get that commander fired up to tell me whats going on while i\'m out there

your gonna love the power increase Andy

Blitzboy >> thanks mate i\'ll give it a quick read :)

yeah you gonna luv the power of the Apexi FC, I was running 12-13psi before my water seals went, the thing was rapid i was giving a Ferrari 360 grief down a dual carriage nearby, the look on his face everytime he looked in his rear view mirror and I was filling it lol

No theres no strip at JAE mate.. there\'s a gokart track, you could take it on there ;)

Hope ya like a bit more smoke too Andy ;)

Dam i\'m gonna get myself some ear muffs hehe

Don\'t think mines gonna be Rari` beating on the base map.. mind you.. I did do 265bhp with half a bar of boost and and blocked cat.. gwad knows what its running at hehe.. have a look when I map it :)

the pod it is then (and hopefully the high 12\'s, need to knock off another .02!) :)  although the go kart track sounds fun :D

you should be looking at a fair few ponies then once its all done, you still gonna use JPS for your mapping?

yeah was 220 somminc at the wheels that other figure we  worked out at the fly.

I can imagine your rx7 zooming round the kart track pushing the little karts out the way lol :D

Gonna talk to Leon when I get back from Germany, he\'s currently getting the mapping stuff from the PFC so should av it soon. Think I will take it over there, though he takes it to a rolling road place *can\'t remeber where, probably g-force* to sort out everything afaik, either way its nice n close :)

let ya know when I go down though mate, be cool if we both go :)

Yeah Leon is good with Supras
but I dont think he has that much experiance in tuning Rotarys,
I hope he remebers he cant be that agressive with mappings on a Rotary then he can on a Piston Engine.
Would it not be wiser taking it to Pip Gardner instead, might be worth the extra mileage

Nice one, although i\'ve heard some rumours that Nemesis have someone that can map rotaries now so may also have a local one :D

Still let us know wen you go though cos i havent confirmed this yet :)

How long before your off to the ring, must be pretty soon now?

ah, very soon then! now understand the urgency in getting the de-cat!

Nems in colchester, bout 15 mins from me, 5mins from the g/fs :)
First time I went ages ago they said they couldnt do mapping, but ive seen Gary G post on here saying they have a bloke (Yan i think) who can do it, on someone elses rollers. And considering I only need a slight tweek im hoping they\'ll be able to do it...but we shall see :)

Really , my mate has had all his work done by Leon on his Supra for the last few years, neva saw an RX in his old garage just Supras, well I stand corrected. Pity Leons show car is the Supra, I would love to see him do an RX up, as he doesnt spare any expense on his Demo Car,his engine bay you could eat your dinner off. He drives pretty well with a guy with one leg lol

did ya ever run on the base map?
Title: Plug n play FC?
Post by: ScuttleRX on June 24, 2004, 05:42:52 PM
yeah i had it on the base map for a while, cant remember exactly how long but 2 or 3 weeks at least, other than some overboosting which was resolved as soon as I got the commander is all seemed ok, but definately a difference after getting it mapped :)

Hey Andy.

Think a chap called Yan is your man at Nemesis - have heard nothing but glowing reports about him and his work. I think Gary G (K1HKS ARSE here i think) could tell you more, his FD is like a project car for Nemesis. They do full mapping on-site, take the car out for some tests, then back for tweaks i\'ve heard. Give \'em a go!

Didn\'t know you were so close to colchester! Used to live there up until about a year ago, still where the majority of my friends are, really miss the late night harwich-colchester runs and the high-speed A12 sprints!

By the way, if you see a grey M3 CSL when you\'re out and about in the area, could you be a gent and flash him like mad? I was talking to the owner (best friend of mine called Darren) about how lovely FDs are, and was using your car as my example! :D

Hi Adrian, cheers for that :)
Was a bit confused cos of the first time I went and they said they couldnt do it, but he must have joined sometime in between :) Got a few other bits to put on aswell so think i\'ll get \'em to do the lot,  and maybe get one of their headlight conversions too, they look pretty sweet, especially as they can be an air intake too ;)

Yeah thats a nice stretch of road, no cameras!

I\'ll be sure to look out for the M3! Im in Colchester quite a lot now now the g/f has finished uni so sure to see him eventually :)
