Title: Odd Paint
Post by: RyanT on August 27, 2011, 01:25:49 PM
Can any one tell me why the paint is smooth all over and a bumpy looking effect on the lower parts of the sides ?

If you\'re talking about an FD there is a stone chip protection film applied to the lower sides.

This might be why it looks rippled.

No, it\'s a rippled surface to make stone chips far less noticeable than that of a smooth surface. Compare the exact same bumper after the same miles and i guarantee the one with the stone chipped rippling will look in a damn sight better nick than the smoothed off one!

It\'s not on the bumper, as far as I\'m aware, just the sides of the car.

Oh? I thought it would have been on the lower lip of the front bumper as well, since it is on quite a few other cars. Eh, same applies still.
