i bought a bi xenon hid kit a while ago from rotary-dynamics ebay shop (no longer there) and finaly got round to fitting them a few months ago. today is the first time ive driven in the dark and it all seems a bit arse about face.
the dip beam is fine but when i go to high beam it actually goes lower and just in front of the car. now the wiring only goes on one way so i cant see how that can be wrong and tonight ive checked the bulbs which i remember only fit one way anyway and when you look through the lens you can see they are the right way round with the semi circular reflector plate sitting below the bulb.:confused:
anyone got any ideas about this or come across similar?????
Doesnt your bulb have to be lined up correctly? Just a thought?
Switch the trigger wire the other way round. Sounds like it is in full beam mode when you in dipped beam and visa versa.
Depending on what bulb you got, the trigger physically moves the bulb backwards and forwards. Also make sure you have the metal shield the right way round.
HTH
Its best to remove them as they aren\'t UK road legal
unless are they not a matched pair or a colour that is obviously not white or yellow they are legal in the uk
Possibly soon. Apparently all aftermarket headlights will be a Mot fail from next year, that includes angel eye things etc
For HIDs/Xenon headlights you need the following:
Automatic headlight leveling
Projector headlights (or the bulb has to physically move if reflector headlights for beam pattern)
Headlight washers
HID/Xenon bulbs must be fitted in an OEM HID rated headlight surround
I had this discussion on a Volvo forum im also on, basically for my non HID/Xenon V40 to have them I would need the EU approved and tested OEM headlight units (as in the WHOLE unit) to be able to fit them, you can\'t just retrofit.
I was then worried about safe driving in the dark as I have had HIDs before and felt much safer, if you need a better upgrade for Halgens, try some Osram Nightbreakers, or some Phillips silver bulbs, basically give amazing light output (almost the same as HID) but are 100% legal for halogen headlight units.
i did switch the feeds around and all it did was make dip beam on main beam switch and vice versa. i took them out and threw them in the bin. complete waste of time and not worth the money
even factory fitted angel eyes? i know there is going to be a lot of changes to the mot test next year, i have read all the special notices that have come through so far (dont have much option really lol) but havent seen that 1 yet! will need to do some detective work tomorrow at work booooooooooooooooo, work!
I only found that out the other day that you \'shouldnt\' retrofit HID\'s. If you kept to the letter of the law though im sure you would struggle to mod a car at all (or shouldnt I have said that!!! lol)

No, just retrofit!
this thread started in aug and only just got reply?!
maybe the metal housing had hole in wrong place?
i got spares of them if u need, foc (or postage).
rx7boy: i got new hid kit if u need. £55 posted. cheap and cheerful :)
OEM are fine as the light units would have passed inspections etc, retrofit isn\'t fine, unless its using an OEM light unit, there has always been a gray area with HIDs but it looks like they are cracking down on them now.
