Title: My new purchase.
Post by: Edd1Ninety9 on August 21, 2011, 06:52:39 PM
Hi guys,

Just thought I\'d show you a little something: :wiggle

Few questions. I want to fit a 60mm boost gauge, whats the best holder?
The fuel gauge doesn\'t really work so how to fix this and how many gallons does she take?
I need a carbon fibre vented bonnet, where\'s the best supplier? Is it someone on here or eBay or what?
Where can I go about getting different headlights? The ones that don\'t pop up... Also, want to change the gauges to white ones and MPH so where is best for this as well?
Lastly, need to mount the air con as well. How\'s best in doing this on a single? :cheers

I know it\'s a :censored::censored::censored::censored: load of questions but just answer one and that way they\'ll all soon get answered! lol :Typing :Thumbsup! Thanks! :cheers

Very tidy motor! Hope it brings you many smiles. Gauge holders are a matter of taste. If its just one, the ones that sit on the steering wheel by re amemiya or greddy are quite popular. They come up for sale regularly on the forum for about £40. You may get tempted to fit an oil pressure and temperature gauge as the stock is a bit wank. You may wish to decide on all the gauges you will need as you can buy cluster holders.

aircon... you will need a new compressor i think it is as it takes the old gas.... not the new stuff...
Title: My new purchase.
Post by: dthebuk on August 21, 2011, 07:30:21 PM
they come up for £40? i payed double that for mine.

also when taking photo\'s, stand a bit further away and use a load of zoom. Makes it look way more badass!

Glad your happy :D

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah might get one that goes above the vents? Only need two gauges I think...

Yeah I\'ll use that tip next time James! Zoom ftw! :D

Where best to get a carbon bonnet guys? Is there a corporate seller on here who does nice ones? And what about dials? They bug me and need changing for sure! :wiggle

Oh, and a good place for a diffuser? :)

Best place is underneath the back of the car :rollin

*ahem* sorry, couldn\'t resist that one. Stu at KN Solutions does replicas of both styles of RE Amemiya diffusers but he doesn\'t come on here any more very much. You can find him on FDUK http://www.fduk.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7994   http://www.fduk.org/forum/showthread.php?t=9598
Never heard a bad word said about his products and top geezer to boot. Carbon bonnets you\'re probably better off searching for a secondhand one unless you fancy getting seriously raped on price new. Or buying one that fits so badly it may as well have been designed for a totally different make of car as in EPRacing, for eaxmple...

Excellent purchase, BTW, we all know this car from when Chris had it before James. Lovely sorted example, hope you\'ll be very happy together. Top marks for buying quality instead of some scary cheap eBay timebomb lol

Whats so special about the spoiler on there atm then? It looks pretty normal to me!

See the problem is, is that it is toooooo stock for my liking. Had a chat with someone in a petrol station filling up and he loved it and so many looks when driving around town, partly guessing due to the ridiculous noise (!), but needs some aero! :wiggle

On a serious note Ed don\'t listen to the haters, it\'s your car do what you want. I\'ll still be hating though!

Thanks man!

She\'ll stay fairly as it is but I have a few changes in mind.

Two questions:

For the headlights, I\'ll keep the pop ups if you guys can show me where to get clear glass lenses? :D

And secondly, is there a bumper that looks fairly similar to stock but has a larger lower grille? Need more air through the intercooler you see. :)

Thanks! :driving

Very tidy mate! Did you get your clocks changed to mph or did you just change the colour? I\'m picking my FD up today :D and have some similar issues that will need sorting. Need a metal AST and gauges in a pillar pod or similar?

Does BGW stand for Big Gay Wing?

You crazy man, there are far too many ruined FDs out there already, leave it be - looks fat just the way it is.

Save your cash for a massive turbo!

Post by: dthebuk on August 31, 2011, 08:55:44 PM
i vote....

diffuser
18\'s on the back (whith about 30 mm less offset)
bigger tyres at the front
More drop

then it will be perfect, bar the diffuser, but im never gunna win :D

actually i reckon a diffuser with the current spoiler would look awesome
Title: My new purchase.
Post by: Edd1Ninety9 on August 31, 2011, 09:00:07 PM
Haha well we\'ll see buddy. :D

What 18s though? i love the alloys at the moment, can you get the G&S in 18 with the same style?

Was thinking I might take them off over the winter and get them widened so can fit some PHAT tyres on there to put all that power down.

With regards to drop, she\'s getting raised! It\'s almost undrivable at the moment. Already done about 200miles in her and so sick! :D :D

She\'s off to Reworx in a few weeks for a new exhaust and remap with more boost! :wiggle

same wheels though. Thos gulfs are tasty as fook

Get rid of what? The 17s? And it bottoms out on a :censored::censored::censored::censored: load of stuff and when cornering you can hear the front lip scraping lawl. Not very practical!

I\'m planning on driving her a lot unlike you :P :P :D !

I\'m gonna get the Gulfs off over christmas and have them refurbed I think...
Title: My new purchase.
Post by: dthebuk on August 31, 2011, 10:02:09 PM
yea the 17\'s.

the front lip is supposed to scrape man. if you break it, get another for like a 10er!

meh, whats the point of driving her on :censored::censored::censored::censored:ty roads? tbh theres not too many places where you can drive it properly.

Also if you really do raise the front properly so you can drive it, you\'ll need to get the camber adjusted. It runs positive camber if you run it high and it handles like crap. I had it raised for a day and i just couldn\'t take it! has to be low.

Haha well I\'m going to make it more daily friendly, sound deadening and what not and raise it.

I\'ll get all the geometry sorted as well. With regards to driving it hard, I open her up a bit but I\'m going to do some more reliability mods (bonnet etc.) so then I can REALLY open her up on the track. She\'s pretty feisty and needs to be shown who\'s boss lol. Got a sweet dab of opposite lock the other day! :D

Well I\'m going to put my own personal stamp on it but she\'ll remain fairly similar looking to how she is now. :)

Don\'t worry everyone!

Also, what\'s my options for a stock looking bumper with a bigger lower lip so that I can get more air through the intercooler and fit the 99 spec lights? Any help appreciated... :)
Title: My new purchase.
Post by: Pantera Chris on September 01, 2011, 09:06:44 AM
You cant really do anything with the stock bumper apart from cut out the bottom section and make a custom splitter.

I have a 99 spec bottom lip on my 93. It does fit, but not perfectly. Slightly too big at each corner but you have to look hard to notice it.
