Hehe I really searched on here and on the internet but not found a definitive answer so hoping i can get specific help here.
So i have a UK 93 FD, Ive rekmoved AirBag System etc to make way for aftermarket steering wheel. Now ive fitted one before in my previous FD with no problems so i like to think i know what im doing......but am i missing something?
I never had horn working since bought the car, now its getting closer to MOT time i have to deal with it, somehow i dont think the MOT guy will accept me shouting abuse out the window as a replacement horn :censored:.....But which wire is the horn live that goes to the wheel???
I removed the clock spring and there was a red and grey wire which went directly to the airbag so its not those...there was a blue and black wire which i believe plugged into the cruise control unit......so the only other wire is a green with red tracer line on it.....this is the one that goes to the orange connector (theres a molex connector that is mainly blue where airbag connects and then this orange plug with this single wire going into it.
So i can only assume that this orange connector with green/red wire is the horn live?? I tested with voltmeter and its dead......so i connected the horn directly to the battery and it works so i know thats ok.
So im confused :S is this the correct wire?? If so i suspect maybe the relay is playing up...but which and where is the horn relay?! ive checked the driver kick panel....saw loads of boxes n wires n thingys in there but could id a horn one.
Any help would be great....pics would be better.....oh and if anyone has figued out how to run a horn on a aftermarket wheel without hair clips acting as contacts etc....would love to hear which boss kits or hubs or what the solution is.....thanks guys
:god
Have you tested the fuse? (start with the easy ones first!)
Lol, I have exactly the same problem and yep, it should be that wire as far as i can tell...
If I could kick the missus off the computer for 5 minutes I could get at the wiring diagrams...
Yes checked the fuse Brett,...all intact :S
Wiring diagram would be great......it has to be it......following it under the dash to try find the relay is not an easy task!! Not only are there loads of wires and tape and cable ties....but its awkward working underneath for to long, back is killing me.:Grrr
Sorry if it sounds like an obvious question, have you checked the horn relay in the relay box by the front bumper? Mine was missing when I first got the car.
Hmmm.....I thought the fuse was there and the relay was somewhere in the drivers side kick panel??

No mate, the horn relay is under the bonnet in the relay box by the front bumper.
Ah ur right dude, had a look and all relays present and intact :( hmmm....
Sussed mine, it is that wire, you should be reading battery voltage on it.
It shares a fuse with the hazards IIRC so is everything else working? If so its either the relay next to the bonnet catch or you actually have a broken wire somewhere.
Intact relay? You mean you\'ve tested that passing voltage across it definitely closes the relay? Or just that there is a relay plugged in?
Hey you all, I love horns. The bigger the better. Although my fav is the rampant rabbit. No wires just a battery. Cum on show me your horns.
