Wouldn\'t mind making an offer although it looks like he don\'t ship to the UK!
Cheers
Ben
PM if u r serious Ben. Or just pm any way :rollin
Im sure he\'s robbed a bank or something :p
Robbed a bank.. nah!
Just doing the Gman - max ya card before someone gets the details! :rollin
But how much would I be looking at to drop one of these beauties into my chassis - ballpark figure? (inc labour and other bits of course)!
Seems alot cheaper using used parts i.e. front mount IC and rad, then fuel pump etc..
PM me a quote (and how long I\'d be without my car again)! :p
Cheers
Ben
if ya want it why not give those movey type people (http://www.moving-parts.com/) a go :D
Well I have to say I\'m stil in three minds at the mo!:p
1.Keep what I got!
2.Go single
3.Go extra rotors
But it all comes down to budget and I may be better hanging on to my rebuild fund! Then going mental while the engines out - although it\'s still good to plan in advance... hmmm.. I think I just contradicted myself there!
Basically if you had 5k (more as time goes by) to spend on a rebuild and other bits what would you do?
Cheers
Ben
Sell my car and buy a nice S15.
Errr, no, I dont really mean it. Kinda.
Lucky there isnt any for sale.
S15? you going to the Nissan side -
U like the HKS D1 car?
I\'ll go to the NSX side next when I can afford it! But no car beats the FD for body design IMO anyway!:D
Cheers
Ben
You can \'just bolt in\' a 20B with not too much hassle. But even doing that you are looking at quite a few beans by the time you\'ve got yourself a decent motor and a computer to run it with. Buying a 2nd hand motor and you\'ll probably be rebuilding it sooner rather than later - and theres half as much again to replace - inlcuding a couple of quite expensive and potentially tricky to find bits specific to the 20B if you have a lot of damage inside.
Doing it on the cheap also increases the chances of turning your great handling FD into a skip!
Theres hardly anthing out there available off the shelf tuning-wise for the 20B so you are looking at one off (expensive) fabrication if u want any thing tasty - even for some thing as basic as an exhaust manifold if you dont intend to keep the cossie twins (why would u :))
To do it \'right\' IMO you need to mount the engine further back than the 13B to retain weight in the \'right\' place and so you dont have to disturb the s/rack. This means cutting the bulkhead, shortening prop shafts, relocating shifter, custom mounts, sumps and unless you chop a lot away - fabricated inlet system.
The front cover of the 20B in mine is in the same place as the 13B\'s is - the extra length/weight is backward. I\'m not using ANY of the standard intake or exhaust system - which is a lot of ball ache and more fabrication. The inlet manifold is a project in itself...
Seriously, I\'d stay with the 13B. The 20B is a fantastic motor and every time I have one running the sound is enough to make it seem worth while again - but I\'m a fairly die hard rotary and 20B boy now, I see no point in the future where I would get rid of the car so its just a labour of love to me. If I wasnt die hard rotary (or have the endless help and support of Geff) I\'d have abandoned the conversion many months ago.
The worst thing about modding a car is the time its off the road; these cars are so fantastic to drive its a shame to have them laid up. If some one asked me whether or not to mod an FD these days I think I\'d probably tell them not to bother - just drive it hard and make the most of it. Again, I\'m lucky as I get to drive other cars whilst mines off the road to ease the pain!
So, ball park. If u used all stock/used parts and did it all your self then u could probably scrape a car together for £5 may be. If u went single turbo and rebuilt ported motor and had some one do all the work for u I\'d guess £15-20K depending on spec. You could easily spend a lot more (like twice!) tho. I\'m sure lots of people will read this and say I could do it/get it done for lots less than that. Perhaps, but I think you\'d be surprised and probably disappointed at the end of it... :wave

Nah doubt im going, but im keen to drive one if I ever see one for sale. Im just getting fed up with the amount of fuel im using which seems unreal. It would also be 3 yrs old instead of a 10yr old car.
The HKS car is ok, but a bit too ricey Americanised now like a lot of D1 cars. Doesnt take a lot to get a very nice looking one.
This one just has TE37, rest looks standard

As for NSX, I would like one but there isnt too many around and Id need a manual and Id probably want the 3.2 as well. Lots of money, and not having a job not the best idea to be getting loans and stuff.
Thanks for the insight 20B_boy, I too love the sound! But due to cost\'s and the other implications it doesn\'t seem worthwhile, I guess I\'ll stick a CD sound recording of a 20B in the CD player to keep me happy!
I\'ll go single when I have a few more quid and just port/upgrade the I/C, rad and fuelling come rebuild time. As it\'s still plenty fast for the road anyhow.
I saw a nice black NSX parked outside a pub down the road from me on Sunday - not Jap tuned nice tho!! Trouble is the cost to do anything to those cars is massive! I\'ll be sticking with the FD for some time, regardless of it\'s age! There\'s not many 10 year old Jap cars that people drool over these days!
Cheers

Rich is your 20B in a FD or FC?
Lee, You\'re the last person in the world I would expect to be thinking of buying a S15.
...if you do it would have to be heavily modified or you\'d get bored and sell it :D
lol.
Well its rare over here and a nice shape, and the SR20DET is a good engine hence the reason I couldnt get an S13.
It shouldnt be too much work to get one to 300 bhp, its about 250 standard.
Im sure the S14 would be ok if I spent a lot on it, but that wasnt the point in me getting it. By the time Id specced it close to how I liked it would have cost loads more than its worth. Buying some coilovers for an s15 doesnt seem so bad though.
I probably wont do it, but I have been looking at Autotrader for one for a few weeks. I want to drive one to see how I find it first. Its just not often a Manual Spec R Aero is on there.

I have one running in my FC (13BT died a week before rotorstock and I wanted some thing to drive there - and 20B into FC is easy..) and one in the FD awaiting lots of other stuff to be finished off i.e. the intake system. Ideally the FC will be used for \'development\' of motor and things motor-related - cause we can have the engine out in a jiffy with the FC and its worth nothing compared to the FD so doesnt make me cry as much to hit it hard with a hammer or chop bits off of it :)

I hope you do get a drive in one, I\'ll be very interested to see what you think.
The S15 diff is streets ahead of the S14\'s (thank God) but I don\'t think the car as a whole is as focused as a FD. It\'s mechanically very similar to a 14/14a
I could probably get Steve C to take me out in his as I know him a bit and he doesnt live far away from me. I know he is thinking of selling it too, but I dont especially like his. I have a problem with Silver, and its not an aero. I just hate to waste peoples time. I heard the diff is lots better, but I still think he had trouble with his overheating at the first D1 practice.
It probably isnt as focused as an FD, but with some suspension change it should feel good enough.
As said I dont think ill do it, but this is going to be partly down to not being able to find them.
I\'d be interested to see how they compare! I liked the DRFT S15 with chopped roof - that one is mental!
I remember seeing your FD at the dyno day in Sheerness 20B_boy, at least I think it was yours!
Shame it had no engine droppedin tho..
Cheers
Ben
Yeah, that would be mine. \'Just\' need the intake manifold done (which should look quite impressive when finished :bandit) and then the fun really starts...
two 20B powered RX-7s now thats plain greedy! lol :D
Ben,
Have a different looking NSX :p

This is a great FD though:

Pics from here, check it out - a few FD\'s... (http://www.kappa119.com/~yanachan/wan40618.htm)
Can\'t wait to se your FD up and running 20B_boy!
The new Veilside NSX kit is nice! As is the FD with RE Amemiya front kevlar splitter!
If I had the money I\'d have multiple FD\'s each with my favourite bodykit on em!:D
Cheers
Ben
That link has some mental van conversions!
I bet they go seriously loud!
Like the FD\'s and the NSX\'s very nice!!
Cheers
Ben
I thought about an S15 before i got the FD. I think it looks a little bit too peugeot 406 for me, and its still just got a SR20DET.
you may as well buy my S14a off me??? :)
I actually like the looks of the 406 Coupe, but I image the S15 is a lot better drive.
I already have an S14, would have no interest in an A ;)
Anyway, im bound to end up keeping the RX7 in reality.
You dont have any rebuild issues with piston engined cars though. Well, not at such low mileages anyway.
You dont feel like your part of such a small group of \'special\' motorists either though :)
