Morning all.
OK, after about 6 weeks of hunting, having a few drives and seeing several RX-7s, both modified, unmodified and downright sh!te (ref: Keighley Trade Centre), I have found and purchased my first RX-7 !!! :chat
Originally on Ebay, I made the journey up to Aberdeen on the weekend to go and have a look, and although I couldn\'t buy at the price the auction ended at I think I got a damn good deal.
1995 Type R2, Black, 38,000 miles, JVC headunit with Bose speakers, Clifford Concept 300, t/t, Re-Amemiya Boost Gauge, Mazdaspeed Rays Alloys (gold and silver), s/s exhaust, apexi springs and 8-point adjustable shocks, Veilside rear spoiler too. The inside looks spanking, and with a good machine polish it should glow at JAE !
Next it\'s time to troll this site to find answers to all my questions, best sounding BOV, good tyre source (255 P Zeros can\'t be cheap), planning the mods and getting to some meets !! :cheers
PS - so how do I attach images to this thread ??????
When writing your reply you will see a box just below where you write this text saying "Attach file".
Click the browse button, and select the picture you want off you pc.
Simple, now give us the pics :D
Lee
I thought it was that simple, but then I can only do one at a time which confused (like it takes much !!). The IMG button was asking for scripts and stuff too......
Anyway, here are 5 of them, taken not long after the car was imported into the UK in feb 2004 :

Alles Gud (sure gets your post numbers up this does....) :
Ohhh.... I LOVE IT !!
Great MS rims, the best rear spoiler and already with a nice exhaust.
Congrats !
Looks immaculate also. Great buy!
Cheers Cruiser !! I\'m salivating at my desk, I can\'t wait for Saturday to get here so I can go collect it. What a shame I have a 300 mile journey back home.... not ! :chat
Starting to research what mods first now.... !
Mart.
Mods ? Follow this list:
- boost gauge
- alluminium AST (air separation tank)
- new fuel filter & plugs
- downpipe
- upgraded radiator
- boost controller to keep boost limited to 10psi until you get another ECU
- efini y-pipe
- upgraded SMIC
- upgraded fuel (pump, injectors) AND upgraded ECU
Nice one... like the spoiler...and you have my wheels too
IMO black is the colour for me :cool :cool
That\'s a great start, thank you.
I would also add :
Induction Kit
Cold Air Feed
Oil temp Gauge (so I know when I can boot it)
Fuel Mixture Gauge
But then I haven\'t really got my hands dirty yet.......
Cautious regarding downpipes and the like as I removed my cat from my GT-Four and had to get it MOT\'d at a \'friendly\' MOT station !
Recommendation for a BOV ? Just searched the forum and no-one stated which they thought was the loudest !!
Mart.
Looks very similar to my car. A black FD with gold Rays split-rims is the definition of perfection in my opinion.....not that I\'m biased or anything!
Cool, send us a picture MillSpeed, our cars could be separated at birth !!!
You going to JAE ??
Will have to take my digi camera next time I go to my folks place (the Rex is holed up in their garage...don\'t think she\'d last long parked on the mean streets of Swansea!). She\'s not lookin too pretty at the mo, I\'m getting her ready for a re-spray and a Feed Type-II front end. The car hasn\'t tuned a wheel since last october.....fookin depressing! The plan is to get her tearing-up the tarmac by the end of next month.
Best of luck getting her sorted. JAE is end of next month but that\'s pushing it, I had an accident this time last year and only just got my GT-Four to JAE on time (collected it the day before), rushing is no good.
Black Monster - have you done anything to your wheels ? I\'m sure the ones on the car I am buying aren\'t nearly that gold in the middle.
HKS BOV gives a lovely noise but if your looking for the loudest i think soeone mentioned once that the blitz ones were pretty deafening!!
cHeers
Nick
Thanks Nick.
Anyone got any part numbers, don\'t they need to be different to the single piston types for sequential turbos ?
Cheers.
Congrats chap, looks like a real beaut! Did you say it was a Veilside rear wing? Haven\'t seen one that...subtle before, looks very similar to the \'99 spec JDM/mazdaspeed Type-II/Panspeed wing. Lovely!
Agree that black is a great colour, really shows off the curves. Can\'t believe how immaculate that interior looks too. Seen worse ones in cars barely a year old! Great spec too. Must be happy.
Out of interest, is there any perfomance difference between the good quality BOVs? HKS Super SQV is the one that springs to mind, but i\'ve also heard the Blitz model is awesome.
Anyway, congrats again, sure you\'re going to REALLY enjoy the trip back! :D
Thank you Adrian !
I won\'t sleep properly until I\'ve picked it up, frightened Aberdeen is going to fall into the sea or the RAC check will tell me it\'s 5 different cars or something...!
Veilside is what it is advertised as but I\'ll have a closer look at the weekend (although I doubt it says so anywhere on it).
My GT-Four was black, IMO Black or Silver for a car, nothing else !!!
Hopefully planning to do Touring Car with a Pit Lane pass at Knockhill start of August, then over to Faslane to see some rellies, I feel a Scottish Meet coming on !
What\'s JAE then? Is it a show or something? I had originally planned to get my car on the road in time for rotorstock, but my had to get my shitcrate Jaguar ready to sell so the Rex got put on hold....again. Now that the Jag\'s out of the way I\'ve got a nice wedge of cash to spend on my baby!
As for dump valves, my car\'s fitted with a HKS valve and it sounds awesome! I did have a HKS SSQ dumpvale lying around and toyed with the idea of fitting that instead, but ended up selling it to a mate stupidly cheap.

That\'s 99spec wing I think. Cant say if its a replica or not.
& probably the best & biggest park up & wander kinda shows

of the year IMO....
Si
heeh at your ref to Keighly.. they\'ve came up a few times! :D
Looks like ya got yaself a stunner there.. come to JAE *cha cha cha*
Where and who in Aberdeen are you getting the car from? I have never seen that car going around Aberdeen. Nor has im sure any of the other 2 RX7 owners up here that are on this list.
The guy selling it lives in Fraserburgh and works on the platforms so isn\'t about that much, although we were flying around Aberdeen last weekend when I was test driving it. Will be collecting it this Saturday around lunchtime if you\'re up for a mini-meet !!!!!
JAE is mental, been there the last four years. I run a small Jap car club with a multitude of different motors, and we have our pitch set out, were gonna have a decent gazebo, inflatable 8 foot tall alien filled with Helium, you won\'t be able to miss us. It\'s just a great weekend with every type of Jap car you can imagine, and others, the weather\'s (normally) pretty good, everyone camps over and gets hammered, there are lots of trade stands, even a mobile rolling road last year.
It\'s in Northampton weekend of 24th and 25th July. Look forward to meeting a lot of you there and listening to exactly which BOV I should get !!
Mart.
99 spec rear wing ??!! Cool ! :chat
!
Quotefrightened Aberdeen is going to fall into the sea or the RAC check will tell me it\'s 5 different cars or something...!
:rollin Well it\'s almost time bud, think i\'m looking at about 5 mths before i\'ll FINALLY get behind the wheel of my own! :(
Wow JAE sounds fantastic! I\'m gonna try really hard to get down there. Quite a trip but it\'d be well worth it to meet you guys :wave and see your cars!!
Yep, lucky you - \'99 spec (and probably adjustable!) rear wings are gorgeous and v v desireable!
And yes, a Scottish meet would great. Think there\'s a few 7\'s up here now. :cool
