my fd has a 6 puk clutch kit http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/zx3-hdg6.htm i run it with motul rbf 600 brake fluid and i cant fault it until last week.
i went to rolling road and drove about 60 miles afterwards and had to make a couple of stops then i went and filled up with fuel and when i got in the clutch peddle had dropped to a biting point about an inch from the floor. i drovr home another 30 miles or so and the peddle stayed low.
when i stopped i listened and could hear what sounded like a rumble when i was in neutral with the peddle down the sort of sound you get if a rlease bearing was on its way out.
so i went to rx motors spoke to tim and there were a couple of possibilities, the clutch release fork, release bearing, master cylinder or slave cylinder.
i got a phone call today saying they have got the gearbox off and the clutch fork is ok, the clutch is good although the friction plate is worn there is still some lining above the rivets and the act doesnty exactley have a lot of meat over those anyway. the slave cylinder isnt leaking the pilot bearing is fine and no other play has been found anywhere.
the thing that is stumping me is the grumble when the clutch is down. is it likely the master cylinder seal has failed and the clutch is dragging and causing this noise??? anyone had a peddle failure?? that would explain the sudden failure initially and dragging clutch (if that is causing the grumble???
anyone else had anyhting similar or have any ideas as most likely cause for the peddle drop and noise. ( also i sis put my foot down on the way to the garage and there was no clutch skip whatsoever and no noises when i was in gear and moving)
