Hi Guys (and Lacey lol)
The modifying bug has snapped after placing some celica gt4 wheels next to the fc and it looked sooooooo good with them there, but sadly the pcd and virtually all of the dimensions are different on the gt4 wheels compared with the rx7\'s, so.
I have been looking around and i have found a very nice set of fd wheels, they are a standard RX7 FD wheel but they are quite a weird one as they are in the 99 spec design which are quite rare wheels however the 99 specs are apparently 17 inch, where as these are only 16 inch, and apparently they are surprisingly light.
I have send the bloke a message asking what the tyre size is and if they are staggered and he said off the top of his head they are 235, 225 or something like that and they are not staggered. The wheels are 16x8jj and i have done i little bit of research and found out the original size for those wheels are 225/50/R16. I would have of put these on anyway because the current wheels are 205/60/R15 if remember so, so if i put 50\'s on the 16\'s it will work out about the same size as the originals (apart from the width) and will not effect the gearing.
But anyway what i was going to ask is, as my wheels are 205 and these wheels are 225 will they clear the inside and will the rub on full lock?
I know you can get away with 10 mil difference, but i know sometimes more. Also if i will need a set of spigot rings so that the centre bore will fit snug. I don\'t have much luck at buying wheels as most of them end up rubbing on something or any other reason you can think of. So i thought of asking your advice before going ahead before i go for them, but i\'m pretty sure they will fit perfectly fine and the wheels look in good nick and are not scabby, but i want to make sure.
They are £80 which seems a good price but 2 are without tyres, but that\'s not a problem.
They are very nice so if they don\'t fit i could resell them easily anyway.
Thanks for reading :Thumbs-up
doesn\'t really matter about the width, its the ET that will mess things up, find out what offset the wheels have, then you can find if they fit or not :)
The rears are usually fine, its usually the fronts that have issues.
I have just sent the seller a message :D

Hehe, cool, im running FD rims on my FC, they are the same size as those rims you are looking for, FC rims are 16 x 7, ET 40, FD rims are 16 x 8, ET 50, meaning that I needed to run a 20mm spacer on the front to clear the suspension.
If those rims are an ET50 or lower, its all good as it means you can fit them with a 20mm or less spacer, if they are a larger ET than 50, then they might have to be pushed out wider meaning you would need a wide arch kit or arch flairing to get past the MOT :)
http://fc3spro.com/TECH/MODS/RT/fdfit.htm
Also, the second number on the tyre is a % of the width, not a mm size.
If they are these then they apparently have an ET of 30, which is gooood lol

Here are what FD rims look like with the 20mm spacer on the front, also R32 GTR rims look awesome

Also, this calulator shows what the rims are like if you did fit them with regards to ET, some ET30 rims with an extra 1" width will be 3mm closer (which is fine) and pushed out 23mm (which is spot on!)

I\'ve seen some pics of you TII with the fd wheels onone of the threads and they suite it well.
I will put the 20mm spacers on the front but won\'t bother with them if they are over ET50. I assume it is 20mm on each side.
:Thumbs-up
Sorry, got properly confused and though you had got some GT4 wheels lol FD rims will fit as above :)
The FD rims do slightly stick out, but I checked with the Mazda main dealer (where I get my MOTs done) and they were happy with them being just about ok, but might slightly flare the front wings a touch just in case.
The rims on the back with no spacer are quite recessed, so I might get some more 20mm spacers for the rear to bring them inline lol
Here are R32 GTR rims btw

Give it about a week and, providing I don\'t need spacers, you\'ll see what mine looks like with 18x8JJ\'s :D

Yep I haven\'t got the gt4 rims and i\'m going for some fd ones.
CORE you TII looks so good with those 32 rims on, it really suites it well
:burnout
a car can pass an mot with wheels which still out past the wings, the problems arrise when pc plod stops you and does you for them sticking out, stupid i know but thats the way it is
I\'d like R32 rims on mine apparently R33 rims look good too? Not convinced they\'re better than R32, actually I know they\'re not but I\'m afraid in my mind it\'s rota\'s for the win!
well my current fc fits a 18x10j et-15 on the rear and a 17x9 et-30 on the front but the front is done with spacers too clear the lower arms on full lock as i feel my steering lock is at the point where more lock is almost unnatainable without custom lower arms
The hat - you\'re excluded from this because you have wider front and rear fenders! I run 9J front ET6 and 9.5J ET0 on the rear, but mine are rolled and pulled.
I can conclusively say - do NOT EVER try to flare the stock front wings, they just end up a mess. Want to see proof? Look at my car at Rotorstock this summer, you\'ll all see what I mean. Mitch, don\'t do it. BUT you can happily roll the inner lip flat without any problems.
R33GTR rims look better than R32 GTR rims. Simple.
Wheelynutz - find out the offset, and we\'ll tell you if they\'ll fit. Personally I\'d steer clear of FD rims, just get something aftermarket, 8J-9J Et30-40, and no higher or lower, and you\'ll be safe.
agreed my fronts are about 60mm wider than standard i think
but the rear is all origonal metal just beaten into shape
DAMN, can I see piccies of your rear? That\'s a hell of a pull! Mine\'re pulled a good inch at the rear each side, and on stock suspension that was as far as the arch roller could go.
That\'s an extra 21mm of poke over me, I\'m impressed! Must look savage on the road!
Are you still running this setup:
Because if so, I\'m sure those rear arches are custom - when they\'re pulled they come out in a big round curve like mine:

Off subject slightly, I remember stumbling across a discussion on RX7club about RX8 wheels on an FC. I thought they looked good, but some people argued that they were impractical and were the wrong offset etc. Anyone know anymore about this as I don\'t really get this offset, fitment malarky!
Just agreed to go for them.
Ignore the frankly gorgeous colour lol but i will more than likely change that.
They are the last set of 4 on the first post.

If you wanted something like that check out the Mazda 5 sport rims (my dad has a Mazda 5) they are 17s, although not sure on the offset.

Nice wheels but i prefer the others and think they will suite the rex better.
I have said to the seller that i will go for them and have asked him if i can pick them up on the way back from RS8.

Did you get the FD rims or the R32 rims?
Quote from: B.Martin;780650Anyone?

The FD rims, two with tyres, two without
Can\'t grumble at that price! I\'d have bought the R32 rims though, if I wasn\'t brassic :Giggle
aha papercutout you were the only other fc at awesomefest apart from mine suprised you never saw my car out on track
but yeah my arches are still origonal metal but the inner skin has some added too meet the outer skin were it has blatantly been beaten into shape with a big mallet as there far from perfect and as much as id love too spend some time getting them too look spot on its outa my bodywork capabilities as i have none whatsoever and i cant really afford the bill from a bodyshop too do it
also i would really like a big wing for the back but ive settled on a shine auto wangan one as i cant afford a bgw wider than the cars arches if that makes sense as i think if its not wider thqn the car it would look stupid
also the car now has a bn front bumper as i destoyed the uras one at awesomefest
I did see it on track mate, looked and sounded great! Didn\'t realise it was you though, or I\'d have come and said hi! Are you coming to Rotorstock?
TBH I think it looks best spoilerless or big wangan one, so that\'s better in my eyes anyway!
That explains it, we didn\'t even look at chopping it out, but they look really sweet with the shape kept in and just hammered out. Obviously would look sweeter done better, but it\'s not too shabby at all!
Do i need 20mm spacer each side or is it two 10mm spacers?
Also the offset is explained here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offset_(wheel)
A single 20mm hubcentric spacer is best. They\'re not cheap though, but your studs will NOT be long enough to run more than a 10mm slip on spacer with alloys.
papercutout i think if you were too see my rear arches up close you would realise there pretty rough but nevermind but whats killing me lately is seeing how much better it looked when i first purchased it as now its bodywok is hanging too bits and i have no skills too sort it

I thought they where the way to go but know if i didn\'t ask i would have got the wrong ones.
Where could i get some good ones that don\'t cost tones of money? (don\'t mind if they are second hand)
:cheers
Don\'t quote me on this, but IMO if you get 2nd hand items, they\'re tried and tested and should be reliable, as well as saving you money: (obviously these are Nissan, so different)

Whereas if you get cheapo ebay ones you\'ll always be a bit wary. Alternatively you could buy more expensive ones:

Exactly, i\'ll probably wait until some rx7 ones come up for sale as i need to get the correct bore size to expel any vibration and it\'s better on the money front.
I did see some for sale on MRC but sadly there have already been snapped up :(
Ask DM motorsport, they spacers he makes are good quality :)
Looked on there website
Here\'s the link http://www.dm-motorsport.co.uk/rx7-fc3s-20mm-hub-centric-spacers-136-p.asp
Wont get some for a couple of months (unless some second hand ones come up) as i actually need to get the wheels first and then i will respray them.
