Title: Whats the value of pieces of a car
Post by: grinder on August 04, 2011, 12:44:25 PM
Hiya fellow FC owners

well the car is still sat on the drive looking sorry for itself

im tempted to sell as a whole - but was wondering if its worth more in pieces

SOOO .... what are these prices like , are they well off , or about right ?????

And before you all start grabbing for bits , this is a more of testing the water to see what the best course of action is .. any ways .. a list ( of sorts )

1 - Engine done about 6K on a rebuild - £600 - £700
2 - 16 inch enkei wheels and tryes - £100
3 - full set of drilled and grooved disc - £100
4 - Bonnet ( ally ) - £100
5 - Unmarked and unripped roof - £200
6 - tan leather seats and door cards - £100
7 - front splitter ( ohhhhhhhhhhh :) - £60
8 - Front strut brace - £20
9 - FCD - £20
10 - Cone filter - £10
11 - Magnacor Blue Leads - £20
12 - Turbo Timer and FC Harness - £10
13 - Tannaue Cover - £75
14 - JDM Rear Lights - £30 a pair
15 - Front Fogs - £25
16 - Fully decatted exhaust with 2*4 inch exits - £100

thats about the main stuff i can think of , and the only things that give me a problem is the engine removal

so thats adds up to .. errr .. £1500 ( ish ) working on the lower ends of the prices - but then im left with a car thats only worth scrap ( shame as its rust free chassis with 65k on it )

So what are my prices like .. way off .. or about right ?

Not sure of the pricing of the roof or the engine to be honest , and prob 2 of the more arkward things to remove

if the engine was to be sold , i would want the buyer to come and listen to it and help with the removal though

like i said - this is just an initial thought , so be calm at this point and stop circling ;)

Stu

I would of thought the roof and the jdm rear lights were worth a fair bit more than that.

Post by: grinder on August 04, 2011, 12:59:29 PM
i thought that !!

But being as cheap as i am , those are the prices i think they are worth .. prob not what they should be worth

in the grand scheme of things - i dont want to be left with a load of stuff - i would rather it all go thats all

this isnt a definate choice - just weighing it all up to be honest

show someone the engines working and maybe compression test it and it should be worth a lot more than you\'ve suggested!

also more for the wheels!

If the roof has no rips - that would be worth more too - I\'d be tempted to chage almost that for the frame and motors alone.  Removal isn\'t too hard by the way - it\'s just heavy as hell so you\'ll need 2 people to get it off without damaging the car !

Personally I\'d go manual and keep it ;)

Post by: grinder on August 04, 2011, 05:24:50 PM
thanks for the info chaps

although the parts might be worth more - its the risk selling high but taking 6 months as opposed to sell cheap and shift quick

its a very sad state off affairs when a car is worth more in bits ( and only 17 of them ! ) than a car

still cant believe i cant find an auto box to be honest
Title: Whats the value of pieces of a car

there isnt a mark on the roof to be honest , not even a sign of wear and tear :(

Nickson motorsport said that they had lots of parts for a manual conversion

Don\'t do it mate, with the manual conversion the car\'d probably be worth £2K (I cannot remember the state of your paint/body though).

Some of those parts you could definitely ask more for though, even I would spend £30 on JDM rear lights, and there\'re those out there that\'d spend upto £100 or so!

IMO most things could have at least £10 added to the price, and that\'s a min of a £160 increase. (I do realise I\'m potentially doing myself and others out of a deal here)

i know he is !!!!!!!! :(

the body could ideally do with a respray to be honest , there is water under the lacquer and its looks iffy :(

Like i said - this is not a comfirmed way forward .. just looking at ideas and working out what is the sensible way forward

if i had a big garage etc.. or space for 2 cars on the drive then i would prob attempt the swap - but i dont have that luxury of space :(

I would have thought you could at least double the wheels.  Most enkei\'s are pretty light weight.

I can\'t believe you are thinking of breaking the car due to the gearbox, it might be cheaper if you still want an auto to get an FD box and sort a bell housing adaptor, or indeed just ask for the parts as most of us have offered basically all the parts :)

Stu, if you do this, I\'mma give you a kicking. Granted I can barely walk a few feet, so it might not be a good one, but I\'mma do it anyway!!! Stop being so depressing, most of us have offered you 95% of what you need to sort your gearbox for BASICALLY OR ACTUALLY NOTHING!!!!

Stop being a pansy, pull your finger out, get these parts off people and convert your lazy-man-drive system into a REAL CAR! :Grrr

The truth is.... He has lost his FC mojo :(

Otherwise he\'d have already planned fixing it with the help offered. The question is weather on not he wants to get it back, he knows if it\'s fixed and drivable again he\'ll love it. It\'s a war between grinder and the inner tight arse!!
Title: Whats the value of pieces of a car
Post by: TiddlesRX7 on August 07, 2011, 01:23:39 PM
The thing is he hardly drives it with his family commitments plus the fact he\'s too tight to fill the tank up and actually insure it for more than 100 miles each year. If he did drive it then
A/ It probably wouldn\'t have thrown a wobbler and broken in the first place. (we all know these cars like to be driven).
B/ He\'d fall in love with driving it again and then couldn\'t live without it.

Come on Stu sort your head out!
