Title: Stock Suspension Help
Post by: Mikey22 on August 03, 2011, 11:24:12 AM
Hey Again!

I need help with another issue i have with my rex. Ive found that when im out driving the front suspension seems quite soft.

Everytime i apply the brakes the front ducks enough so that the under tray scrapes the floor.

Is the suspensin knackard or is it just like that? Think i want to put stiffer springs on it to stop this.

Cheers

sounds like dead shocks, no way should a stock car scrape under braking.

Even with no damping it\'s highly unlikely you\'d bottom out under braking.

My first guess would be that your undertray has come loose and is flapping about mm from the floor.
If your car is definitely, 100% bottoming out on compression, other guesses would include fully spannered top mounts, horrifically destroyed bushes (but the car would be practically undriveable for them to be that bad), and chav spec suspension (clamped or massively cut springs)

if i were you i would jack it up, check the springs, bushes for any play, but firstly as SiH said, check your undertray.

no offence but if your car is bottoming out under breaking im pretty sure you would know it as your wheels will prob hit the inner arch very hard. and your handling would be like driving a shopping cart lol

Yeah i think you guys are right about the under tray. Im getting it up on a ramp soon so i can have a look.

Tbh its weird but im still getting used to the car. I simply dont use it enough to be used to it yet.
