Hi Guys
I am looking for 2 Drag Radials size 15. I have been looking around but waiting time is 3 to 4 weeks and I can not wait that long as I need them before Rotor Stock :) :flamed
So what you guys have?
However, If you guys know who can provide them do let me know please :Typing
Mir
15 inch won\'t fit the back of an FD in stock form.
Regards
Carl
I can get drag tyres cheap from my friend, however you will need a set of rims that you are prepared to have screws drilled through the rim onto the tyre.
Are you prepared to do that?
@grant drop me an email please with the price and also what rims would I need? Not greatly expert in this department!
Mir
Don\'t have your email? The smallest rim you can get on an FD is 16". Not sure on the width. Have you got a set of standard FD rims that will be only for drag tyres? As once tha tyres have been fitted they will be no use for normal tyres as they will have holes through them.
I can buy standard FD rims! It\'s not a problem! But putting those tyres on the rims may a specialist job! Let me know

Iv left a message for my mate. Just waiting to hear back from him. Iv asked him for some 225/50/16s which is the standard FD tyre size. However I think you could squeeze a wider tyre over the rim giving a bigger tyre to road surface contact.
I will let you know when he replies. But look elsewhere in the mean time just incase he doesn\'t get back to me.
Cheers for that mate!!
Rotorstock has really launched an assault on my bank account, now I am wondering whether I am going to be ready by then or not :(
I thought ECU will be done soon, but its not done yet :(, Dave is working hard on the ECU Loom and the Car, but I have to agree that its a time consuming exercise so I can\'t blame WGT as they are working hard to make my car perfect :).
Recently, I bought myself a Brand new 1s Acquamist Water Injection Kit, Mocal Oil Coolers and Headlights, None of them are installed on the car yet :(
It looks to me that if the progress on the car traveled on the current speed, I am sure that the rotorstock will be left as a dream for me!!!

Haven\'t heard anything from my mate yet. Have you tried speaking to pip about some tyres? As I\'m aware he\'s more into track racing than strip but I\'m sure he will be able to help you out.
Are you going preturbo WI? As that is the way I am thinking of going with my WI. It yields more benefits than putting the WI after the intercooler.
@ Grant Pip is going to connect it with the Motec, he said the Water Injection will be triggered by the ECU hence it will be automatic. 1s Acquamist is ideal for this purpose! I think it\'s going to be pre-turbo!

if you have a 97-8 and below model you can fit a 15 rim that has the correct offset on it. Been dome many times. You will need to file a bit of the calliper down, this will not harm anything. 99 and up fd\'s have the same issue but one size up.
Pre turbo is definitely the best way to go with it. Which unit did you go for?
My friend has been in touch and has said that he and his drag racing buddies are struggling to get hold of drag tyres at the moment. Must be a shortage?! Will let you know if he comes back with any more info though.
I\'ve got a set of Track Slicks on 18" rims if they\'re useful? They\'re not drag tyres but will grip harder than a set of road tyres for a launch. They might be kinder to your drivetrain as well.
You could always ask to borrow somebodies tyres when your down at rs8? I\'m sure if you offered £20 or so for a couple of runs they would do it?
I wish!! but I am sure I would not have such a luck......
Still looking.. spoke with someone about the tyres and they are asking 500pounds for the two tyres... :(
I think I am better off without them...arrggg Sorry
lets hope if I can sort something out..
Mir
Have you tried la racing? heres a link to ther website

Grant can you confirm what brand of tyres your mate can get - Mickey Thompson, Hoosier etc?

I will get in touch with ASAP. And then let you know
mickey t\'s can no longer be easily imported to europe due to the nature of their manufacture therefore they demand a premium price. your best bet is hoosiers which should be readily available but still not cheap.
can you elaborate some more rbs14a?

No sorry, I don\'t see him too often and he\'s rubbish at getting back in touch. I will let you know as soon as I know.
would the following tyres fit in my FD?
275 40 18 Toyo R888 99W
Any help is appreciated. I am told that, 275 is the max you can go on the standard FD. So any help is appreciated.

a street car doesnt have to have an interior
Yes but I like to keep the Rex with interior and everything! Stripped interior etc etc, is not my taste!
Cheers
I think rbs14a was taking the p*** about the tyres actually fitting inside your car.
I managed to fit 265/35/18 on the rear of my FD. Without rolling the arches, but they were deeply dished. I don\'t know what the offset would have been though. If you go to a good wheel and tyre distributorthey will know what offsets and widths of wheel/ tyre youcan go to without getting into rolling arches and stuff.
If they don\'t know that kind of stuff then they aren\'t worth spending the money with IMO
@Grant I know he was taking the P.... but I tend to avoid such comments-don\'t have time really :)
I also have deep dish on my FD but depends how deep were the dishes on your car!
The car is still at Pips and hopefully I will have the delivery on Saturday. Hence, I wont be ready for the RotorStock..:( :( :(
But I will still give it a go! If I lose! so be it! That experience will make me come back stronger!! lolll

Its funny and true, Considering they make the micky t\'s in melksham wiltshire.( Avon Tyres) and you cant buy them direct from Avon, Then they Ship them to the states, Yet you cant get them here.
And they only do a three month production run. Typical.
@ Mir, i run 285/40/18 on the rear with a slight roll and the car is low, Those toyo\'s might just fit in your arches.
Keith.
I have a pair of m/t sportsman pro tyres in the garage
Need to check but i think they are 28 x 8.5 x 15

Hahahha that was a good one, I thought in situation like that a common sense will prevail, but after learning that my post was interpreted "literally" instead of "Mischief", I shall keep this experience in mind and move forward from there, on a technical point of view, in or on would not make any difference, if you know the intention of the writer
However, good experience and nice to know some people are meticulous and read my post carefully :Ladys-man

so your thinking of using r888 to drag on? i wouldnt bother.
I did say I was not going to post on MRC anymore, but as you donated kindly Syed to my charity, I will point you in the right direction
Rob is right r888s are a waste of time on the drag strip, too hard and wont warm up quickly enough.
Go for Hossiers Quick time pros, they do them in 15 inch and 16 inch rim sizes, go for 26inch tall by 10.5 inches wide sizes.

+1 with Blitzboy.
Well Blitz, All I can say is a big thank you for two reasons, firstly, for ignoring your commitment and posting for my sack-really appreciate that. secondly, diverting me towards the right direction. I couldn\'t thank you enough mate. Nice one.
