I just read this on BBC1 F1 site. What a bummer only 50% of races on BBC1

How can it be good news for those who don\'t subscribe to Sky Sports.

I have never watched Sky Sports, does that mean ad breaks as well?

no adverts during the race. just £20 a month fee for it plus £10 for hd if you want it and thats on top of normal subscription costs

That\'s a right bummer - F1 is the only sport we watch so looks like I have to pay £30 per month just for this??

Looks like they trying to squeeze money out of everyone\'s pockets to fund it doesn\'t it?!

I do like watching f1, however it isnt as entertaining as motogp. So I would rather have that back on BBC than f1. Or they should replace f1 altogether with Japanese super GT. that racing is great.

Yup, if they started showing Super GT or following the Indycar then may as well get back into that rather than showing half a season -ok highlights of the ones they are not showing live will still be on.  Any channel could do this to tempt you too!

Sky can kiss my big rear end if they think im buying their junk!

If you really wanted you could get the German live feed and stick radio 5 live on as the commentry instead! ta da!:evillaugh

I was getting into F1, but now if I can\'t watch it, whats the point?

You can still watch on the BBC, just that half the races will be highlights only - not live.

I\'ll echo what Ricco said - Sky won\' be getting a penny more of my money. They already have too big a monopoly!

I\'m sticking with the BBC coverage, I\'ll just have to put up with only seeing half the races live. I just hope there aren\'t other changes in their coverage.

Not happy about this... Virgin get enough out of me, without having to go for sports channels as well.

Might experiment with the Sky function on the Xbox...?

They mentioned that the Beeb was just gonna show half the F1 on the telly that was the deal.... radio coverage wasn\'t affected and they didn\'t mention online though so hoping to watch it on there.

How can it be on iplayer if it hasn\'t been shown on live TV though?

They probably haven\'t got the rights to broadcast on tv but share sky\'s footage on iplayer, they do the driver tracking live so why not this.? Like I said they mentioned that the limits were just for broadcast on tv not anything else. Here\'s hoping anyway.

All the races will still be shown on the BBC, but only half of them will be shown live. The rest will be covered by highlights programs.

Sky have the rights to show ALL races live. That\'s the difference.

You don\'t have to pay extra for Sky (and I certainly won\'t be!) - you\'ll just have to avoid hearing the result before those races that won\'t be shown live.

It\'s a cop out by the BBC really though isn\'t it. I have Skysports at home but would much rather watch the coverage on the BBC. They really need to sort out their budgets so they can actually bid for program rights insted of getting walked over by sky all the time.

this is the best place to get upto date details on what is happening http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/ . there seems to be some bargening going on at the mo with fota through whitmarsh being told and expecting the whole race being shown a couple of hours later but the bbc has confirmed that it will only show a highlights program of 75mins between 5 and 6 on a sun eve

what a cluster f**k

I enjoy watching a lot of sport, football, golf etc so without getting into the political agenda of Sky, its a natural "choice" for me.

I will say i have enjoyed the coverage this year on terrestrial tv but in general i find Skys coverage of any of the sporting events is 2nd to none and after just having upgraded to Hd its simply stunning.

I guess F1 was watched by many people, not just sports fans, so can understand the frustration if thats all you enjoy. Seems the way of the world these days.

The biggest irritant to sky and viewing for me however is the box office events, mainly boxing, its disgusting after subscribing you still have to pay for these features.
