Title: Side mount alternator kits
Post by: Grant Monkhouse on July 28, 2011, 05:54:32 PM
Where and who does them.

I have found the extreme rotaries ones, but they are a bit extreme on price for a chunk of metal.

Makes me laugh how when they Put the words, billet and CNC\'d the price goes through the roof!

Pretty sure Keg at Billetbitz was looking at making one. Bear in mind you\'ll need an electric water pump, or idler pulley.

you can hang it off of the airpump bracket on the stat housing, but then it\'s in the way of the turbo, so that\'s pointless :spank

If you can wait...it will be worth it :)  Plus we have good electric water pump housings :)

which leccy pumps are you using? i\'ve seen some of the meziere ones flow something crazy like 200 l/h.

Don\'t you loose the power-steering too with the relocation bracket ? Would be cool if somebody could design one keeping the power steering pump.

you will have to loose something, can remove the air con and place it there.

grant i am keeping an eye on the jons update but also did have a look for an hour this afternoon at placing the alternator where the air con would be and to be honest im nearly there with it just need to adjust it a bit more and tidy it up, and find a belt to fit. cost so far £0!

I did have the pineapple racing one but struggled to get it to work, it would loosen itself off !

Still have it somewhere in the garage.

I did have a look at putting it there but the side rail in the engine bay is too close to the engine, the alternator is too big to get it in that position. Wondered if the PS pump could be moved down and the alternator put in its place ? Or even an electric PS pump instead.

i\'ve done this, pretty easy tbh. remove the aircon/ps bracket, cut it in half and drill a hole :Thumbs-up
