Title: Free Drive!
Post by: matthewbellamy on July 28, 2011, 10:57:27 AM
Hi.

Is there anyone in here nearby or willing to travel to the Birmingham area to have a look at my car to see if my engine is running right? Surely just a drive you can compare to the power of your own car and see where mine lacks in certain points.. Just need peace of mind as i have no local rotary buddies :(

It has an intermittent rough idle and sometimes conks out on me, i start it up and everything works fine again especially when i keep driving..when im stationary at traffic lights it holds its idle about 250-500rpm.. i have alot of aftermarket parts on such as intercooler, induction kit, exhaust but a stock ECU and according to Pip at WGT it hasnt been tuned, i dont know if thats why its idling rough sometimes.. Just need peace of mind mate..

I\'m in Solihull

Owned a 3rd Gen for 5 years - a 3 rotor cosmo for a year and currently have a T11

If you want to arrange to bring it over I\'ll compare.

Far from an expert but the offers there if it helps.

John

You mention Pip. Did he identify a problem with it? Might be worth asking him to have a check and test drive as he would have more experience than most.

If its idle is 250-500 then thats to low, should be 750-850rpm im sure?

Also with those mods there is a chance you can hurt the car by giving it the beans so would need a re-mappable ECU (like an Apexi PFC) then needs to be properly tuned/mapped.  This must be what Pip was referring to - as you say you have a standard ECU, these can not be re-mapped hense Pip saying it wasnt tuned properly?

Haven\'t you been told many times before you need a power fc and remap. Why don\'t you actually do that?
