Hi G/HTS

Nice looking car, do you know if your car was an import from Japan,
or did they sell direct to SA.

I have no idea...Japan is right-hand drive aswell? Don\'t know if it helps but speedo is km/h and mph (the km/h markings is small), we are km/h.

Interesting it has a single door mirror as the uk Gen 1 series 2 had, but I\'ve never seen an interior like that before. is it leather ?

Yes it is, seats has been redone, as far as I know the rest of the interior is still standard.
I\'m still trying the find the exact model of this car, either 84/84 and as far as GS/GSE etc. goes I have no idea...
All I know is the VIN starts with SA22C

Also, isn\'t these with disc brakes at the back supposed to have LSD? If I turn the wheel the other one turns the opposite way...

Hi Goofy and welcome.

You need to find all Ian65 threads in this 1st Gen Section on the question you asked about turbocharging. And then find his website. He\'s the technical wizz on turbos. I think you\'re right about LSD.

In UK we used SA as a VIN for very early cars, then FB for the later UK ones. An \'85 car here would definitely be FB.....Series 3 1st Gen.

Only 12A NA engines and no LSD as standard here for all 1st Gens but we did have our home produced Elford Turbos supported by Mazda......Ian is your man for those.

that\'s the open diff.... if both wheels turn the same direction then it\'s a limited slip diff....  mainly American spec cars had the lsd factory fitted.... all uk models certainly had open diffs

thanks for the vote of confidence Dave!   ... but I\'m really only clued up about the Elford turbo setup..... the main men for 1st gen turbo conversions are Ramon and Tim... they\'ll be the best to advise on EFi or carb, 12a or 13b, blow through or suck through, etc, etc.
If I was doing a blow through turbo conversion, I\'d be speaking to them.
