first up is to do with the BAC Valve, On the unit that is connected to the car it is almost impossible to get a reading from it which leads me to think it may be faulty although when hooked up to a 12v source you can hear it working,
Now with the spare that was kindly posted out to me last week i checked that at the weekend and it does exactly the same! Now does this mean they both arent working or is that what it\'s meant to do?
Also ive noticed that the oil cooler is leaking on the car, has anyone got any ideas about replacing it or would it need to be reconditioned ideally?
Cheers guys!
Shouldn\'t be too hard for you to find a new oil cooler, they\'re a pretty generic part, as long as you measure the size of the pipes and get one of equal proportions you should be perfectly fine, and as oil coolers (like some radiators) are a fairly generic part, they don\'t usually cost much to replace unless you\'re uprating or want extreme performance coping from your system :)
Ok then so just to find a new oil cooler from somewhere :)
Also, the gear stick rubber boot that gives the stick a bit of resistance and returns it to the centre.... Without importing a new one are there any alternatives that any has found to work? ive been looking on ebay at ones for different cars but have no idea what would fit
I need one of these too :D
Apparently there is a short shifter you can buy that sorts this out, but i forget who told me and he never told me where to get it from :(
http://mazdatrix.com/g4.htm
Can get it there, but they\'re apparently not fond of shipping outside the US
They also sell the OEM front lip for about $400 + postage
I was told this short shift was pretty cheap. And i\'m not looking to spend quite that much on the oem splitter either!
Here, found it from my \'finally\' thread...
Quote from: antnicuk;777580you can get a quick shift for the FC quite cheaply and it will replace all the sloppiness and give you a shorter throw. IIRC i paid £30 for mine.
So i\'ll ask him see if knows where to get one from :)

I think the MX5 shortshifter can be fitted if poked a bit
ive got this on my watch list:

but dont know how good it would be...
Doesn\'t look like the inside of mine at all, mine doesn\'t have a thick metal collar it\'s built into the gearbox itself, and it doesn\'t have the plastic thing at the end either

Lacey, your shifter is OEM, the large collar in the photo is what makes it a short shifter :)

With the oil cooler I\'d stick with an oem part. The stock oil
Coolers are very good!!

You sure this will fit? Get it and let me know ;)
Edit - Just found this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STEEL-86-91-MAZDA-RX7-FC3S-90-97-MIATA-SHORT-SHIFTER-/280715381353?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item415bf0ca69
So in theory, the one your watching
should work?
Stock oil cooler on the FC is good for 500bhp :)
In theory it should work....i may have to get it to see :P
So what shall i do about my oil cooler then? its leaking so it needs sorting....i doubt its going to be too easy to get hold of an oem replacement so potentially i need to get it reconditioned?
Try any of the tuners in the top banner or one of the other rotary specialist. At least one of them will have an oil cooler tucked away I am sure.
Are you sure its the oil cooler and not the power steering cooler pipe that runs in front of it? The PS cooler pipe is a know issue for leaking.
I feel pretty sure it might be, the bottom corner of the cooler is covered in oil....
I do have a spare oil cooler attached to my spare engine, however I don\'t have the massive spanners needed to remove it from the block, Prof is coming round to mine on Tuesday, so if I am able to remove that oil cooler from my spare engine you are quite welcome to it.
He\'s a good lad that Mitch ;)

That Mitch has got a spare engine and lots of spare parts :2Rolleyes
You say spare like your not planning on using that \'spare\' engine! If it\'s unwanted and taking up room in your garage, I can put it to good use for you :Giggle
