Title: New engine/rebuild
Post by: Mikey22 on July 25, 2011, 10:20:29 AM
Ok i was browsing through some website today and have come across something interesting. This could just be me so i do apologise if ive missed something obvious.

This is the website i found www.rxmotors.co.uk (http://www.rxmotors.co.uk)

They offer a rebuild for £2500 + Vat so i think that would lead to approx 3K

However they also have engine for sale which are a 20B for £2500 + Vat
or a 13B RE for £1200

Now to me thats really cheap....am i missing something? is there a difference between that and a 13b in anyones car? I take it thats most likely without turbos etc.

Look forward to hearing peoples thoughts.

cheers

Mike

A 20B, even one requiring a rebuild, is useful because of things like the eccentric shaft and other bits specific to a 20b.  Given how much it would cost getting a 20B engined car, other than a Cosmo, to work then the cost of a rebuild to achieve that is relatively small.  The 13B-RE will be useful because of its bigger inlet runners allowing more torque than the ones on a 13B-REW on an RX7.

Tbh i wasnt looking at getting a 20B, Im quite happy with the 13B thats in the car already.

I just thought the way it said on the net was you could either get a rebuild for approx 3K or buy a recon engine for approx £1500

It just seemed so bizarre.....but now i understand. Tbh i would probs see about the engine but do you get to know if its usable?

I mean do they tell you if any of the housings are knakard or is it just pot luck?
